Default I bought a plane

Yep, I have joined the ranks...... Picked up an old Cherokee Factory 160 this week. She isn't the prettiest girl on the ramp but I washed her up and she doesn't look half bad. I had a beautiful 140 lined up but that fell through so I ended up renting a 172 to finish my ppl. My first flight after becoming and official pilot was in my new plane. Was a fun 4 hour cross country and the plane really performed. It has all the speed mods and we were at 140mph TAS which seemed fast to me! Flies true and I am happy. Old radios but they do work. Has dual vor's etc.. so hopefully they all work and I will try and bring her up to IFR . Feels great to own an airplane and not have to worry about scheduling! I am going to try to keep track of cost and expenses through my commercial rating and will post to the site for all to see. JOE

Anyone ever tell you private airplanes, sailboats and cocaine habits are God's way of telling you that you have too much money?

That's awesome- fly safe.

I've been itching to get back into a light airplane ever since finishing up sim training here at Colgan. Don't get me wrong- flying people around is fun, but you can't do what you want with her like you can a light airplane.

I heard a different version.

"If it flies, floats or XXXXs, you're gonna have problems with it."

I kid. I'd like to own a plane, too.

I've heard it this way, "If it flies, floats or xxxxs, you're better off renting it!"
Congrats!

Congratulations! Yeah there is just something about knowing you can go out and hop in her anytime you want, and go anywhere you want! I miss my Mooney! Just cannot justify owning right now! Have fun with her!

No, but flying at DCA or ATP is God's way of telling you to retake Econ.
