This was 20 year ago when there was a TRACON at LAX. It's all moved down to Miramar, now, and there's freeway offramp where I used to work.

It was a GS14 facility back then, top pay. Working at the tower paid the same, and I could see that being more fun. I wasn't a controller, just a lowely ATA, so I'm not sure it's fair for me to say "how it was". There were times when it was busy and times when it wasn't. All say this, I've never seen such a hard partying group of guys before. Make pilots look like pansies. It was a fun time, but nearly everyone said I should get out of ATC and back into flying. That was good advice.

ABSOLUTLEY!!! It would be great to see, Of course I must insist that I get a tour when LULU is working! I love LULU (SP??) She is a great controller, she makes things run real smooth even with a little light hearted fun mixed in. I miss my Mooney, and hearing her MOOOOOOOOOONEY 1EG cleared for land!

Yep, I'm based there....and am usually in and out at least once or twice a week.

A tower tour would be great, maybe we could wrangle up a group of SoTex Jetcareers people and make it happen sometime.
