I finally got the time to start training a bit (again), and with this morning's few touch and go's with my instructor, he told me to make the last one a final stop and taxi back to the front of the school so he could sign off my logbook and endorse my student/med certificate...FOR SOLO!! I was kind of expecting it from yesterday's lesson when he told me that if I did as well on my next lesson as I did today (yesterday), he'd probably solo me. So of course, the first thing I did was hop on a computer to see when his next available slot was. The experience was phenomenal, and I can't think of anything that was as rewarding and exciting as that! Yesterday when my inst. and I got back from the lesson, he was telling the owner of the school that he was probably going to solo me soon...and when he found out that I only had 7.3TT, he told me that if I did it before 10TT, he'd take me out to dinner. Too bad for him, I did it at 9.2 this morning . It was pretty sweet, too, to be at TPA before the end of the runway for a change, lol. You hear everyone talk about how much better the performance is with the plane when no one else is in it except you ...so true. It was a blast though! Just wanted to share the experience! Take care, and thanks for making available great information and helping keep the drive alive!

Congratulations! I imagine you must be extremely excited! I'm planning on starting my PPL in the Spring, so I'm on my way as well. Hopefully I'll do as well as you did!

Was your solo in that aircraft in your avatar? That must have been sweeeet. Seriously though, I remember my first solo. Still have the picture on my fridge that I took of my apartment during the flight? Congratulations.

It kind stinks though, because the first 5 hours of my training is so spread out...dating back to February of this year! One lesson in Feb, two in April, and one in June (because of military, and never being around). If I could have only had those a bit closer to each other, he (inst.) has no doubt I would have done it a lot sooner. It's all good though. I'm still happy with myself . I'd probably have my PPL done before the end of the year, if it weren't for tuition . January is still my current goal, though . Thanks to all for the kind words!

. If you can't do your first solo in an -18...you're "below par"...LMAO! JK...So -18 is on the ramp of the airport I work at here in Grand Junction. If any of you ever fly through western Colorado, you've probably landed at GJT...and the company is West Star. We handle quite a few military birds actually. F/A-18's, F-5's, T-38's (non-fighter version of the F-5), T-45's, EA-6B's...pretty much anything that wants to stop by. I think it's because of the free pizza!! LOL...
