| I PASSED!!!!! . <---- Thats honestly what my face has looked like for the past 6 hours. It was a crazy checkride. The wind was 300 at 15 gusts to 22. I was on runway 25, so do the math on the crosswind. Everything went great. I didn't realize how much fun a soft field crosswind landing could be. I aced my oral, except for the fact that I didn't know the voltage of my alternator. I offered to look it up and he said that was good enough. The gusts made things crazy. I had updrafts, downdrafts and backwards drafts (if that is a word). It only took 25 minutes for the oral and .9 hours for the flying. I hit my first checkpoint to the second and everything was good from there. I am the first student to pass on the first try from my instructor (he has had 2 others from the beginning) so he is happy as well. Oh, by the way this is my first post on Jet Careers. I just had to tell the world. I am now a Private Pilot. Many more to go![]() |

| Yeah, I couldn't believe how short the oral was. We went over a lot of stuff, and I answered the questions pretty quickly, but I had studied for a lot more. Actually had the oral taken longer the winds would't have been so bad. About 45 minutes after I landed all the gusts died and the winds were down to 9 knots. I wouldn't change anything though. I passed . My wife was my first passenger. She was a little apprehensive to say the least, but after we were in the air she calmed down and enjoyed it. When we went to land she was dead silent and I think she closed her eyes, but after we touched down she opened her eyes and screamed in the headset to do it again. after 2 more landings we went in. It was cool to have someone else to experience it with. And for the record I did still use all my checklists . Thanks again for all the support. I'm starting to like jet careers. |

| Great job, especially dealing with the cross-winds for soft-field landings. My soft fields are exciting enough w/o the wind. Congrats on not scaring your first passenger, too! Becky

| Junior Member | Great job and awesome work handling the crosswind. My oral was 2.8 hours and the flight was 1.8, if I remember correctly, wish I had a 25 minute oral. Have fun and fly safe, and don't forget to use your new privileges. |
