Default My first flight

Great experience! The instructor showed how to preflight the Cessna and a quick 15 minute instruction on the avionics. Then he told to start her up. I waited a minute or so thinking the instructor would do most the work the first time, the instructor looked at me and said "giver er some throttle and lets get going, and aint here to do the work , I already know how to fly." we taxied around in circles a couple times so i could get used to th rudder controls, then we taxied to the runway. I did a quick powerup and checker all the gauges. The instructor told me what to say to the tower and I was told to position and hold, a couple big boys were landing so I had to wait about ten or so. We got clearance and pulled on the runway and he told me to give er some gas, when we got to the right speed he told me to ease the controls back and I had er airborne. Made a perfect left turn, and had a blast for the next hour.

I liked his hands on approach to training, makes it a better experience. I think I am going to enjoy getting my PPL.

That first wheels up at the controls is a thrilling experience. Wait until you solo. You will never forget that either. Best of luck in your training.

Sounds cool!

... I'm willing to bet you were told to "hold short" instead of "pos and hold"

Awesome! I'm glad your first flight was so much fun. There's more fun to be had. Sounds like you have a good instructor and although I'm still working slowly on my PPL, I've already learned that a good instructor makes all the difference.

Have fun and happy flying!
