Hail to the Victors

Congrats on him getting into UM. Its a very good school and a cool area.

I lived in Ann Arbor for 7 years and it was a blast!

Very Very Liberal though.

I went to WESTERN Michigan University, another large (30,000 kids large) university on the other side of the state that nobody has heard of because they're in the MAC conference.

I did four years of college marching band playing snare drum, the last one as section leader. I also spent a year doing indoor drumline at the PIW level at Great Lakes Percussion. I loved it to death, and I was glad I had the oppertunities I did.

But tell him if he wants to be in a good college drumline, he's gotta go to Michigan State. Michigan and Illinois are, in my opinion, a bunch of hacks. Tell him to man up and audition at Cavies or if he wants, I'll put him in touch with the right people at Great Lakes Percussion (an ensemble I assure you he'd love).

Great news for the fam! Congrats Kevin. Sounds like he's gonna end up happy and have a good time. I just hope he enjoys aero more than I did. It paled in comparison to actually flying (although I did love propulsion and design classes), but getting that degree will be a wonderful thing. Best of luck to him.
