Marcus, Cruise, (who was the third??) and I had dinner at Margaritaville, early this week. There were 9 of us and we ended up sitting at the kiddy table. Just the way it happened. Anyhow, Marcus was talking about his interview and how the sim ride was in a CRJ sim. So I was giving him some pointers about using the speed trend indicator, pitches and the IVIS. Some how we got to talking about V1 and VR and I mentioned that it would probably be around 140 knots or so. His mouth just dropped. I guess when you go from rotating a cessna at 40 or a Seminole at 70, 140 is pretty darn fast. Sounds like he managed ok though.
Oh that's right you guys were the kiddy table! I guess I was at the ExpressJet table.

Man, I thought you looked familiar. I'm pretty sure I was the guy sitting next to you in the employment office. Did I not tell you that it would be easy? Congrats! See you in class on the 19th!

Thanks to everyone for the responses! It was nice to meet you all in Vegas. STORY TIME: I have to publicly thank Seggy b/c his post a couple of weeks ago made this happen. It was a Sunday morning I woke up and of course, checked JC like I'm doing now and see Seggy's post "ASA has TA" So I scroll over to APC and check the minimums and see that I meet them. So over the next couple hours I whip together a resume and cover letter using Air Inc's Airline Pilot Resume Kit as guidance (which ironically has ASA airplanes on the cover). Faxed it in and the next day I got the call!

Bob
Most people I've talked to recommend moving to ATL. I heard the ATL DFW commute is going to be pretty tough with all the Delta peeps. ATL is one BUSY airport. I thought DFW was busy but ATL is on another level. Look forward to working there. Do most people drive to training? I figure since I'll be training at least 60 days I might as well take my car

Thanks for the help! I've never been so nervous before but as soon as I stepped in the right seat I took a deep breath and went into gametime mode. All I did was focus on the PFD the whole time. I left the NFP do everything else (bugs, thrust etc.) CRJ-700 sim is incredible. Lurched forward when take-off thrust set. Rotated at 130 and pitched up 15 DEGREES!!! After take off I put my feet flat on the floor. Heard it gets ugly when you use rudder. It was pretty pitch sensitive but roll was steady. No problem keeping heading. My first goal was when I leveled off was to memorize where the nose needs to be when the IVSI is zero, which was about 2 degrees pitch up. The jet is really smooth and easy to fly, the problem is that it is FASTER. Much faster. Anyone piloting it has to think FASTER. For example when leveling off I started 400 before altitude. I had to tell the the NFP to pull my power to 59% N1 during that time. Had I waited a couple seconds for that call I would have been over 280knts below 10k. No bueno! Your tips about the Sky pointer helped greatly, especially during climbing turns, which were kind of tricky. Hold was a parallel entry, then vectored for the ILS. It was kind of tricky to hold altitude was flaps and gear where all put in with but that was about it. ILS was the easiest I have ever done! The jet is so heavy and smooth it won't move off heading like light singles and twins. There was a 10 knot crosswind too and still no problem. All you have to do is figure out what pitch will keep you on the glide slope. Landing doesn't count but wasn't bad. Alittle left of centerline

Holy crap! More proof that aviation is a small world. Now we got two JCers in the same ground school. I wouldn't be surprised if theres more. Thanks for the advice! I was doing the same thing you were doing for me my second day lol. Giving advice to the nervous Day one guys.

Yup I made it, barely. Coming back to Dallas I had to "stand" and watch the plane go "bye" the first flight but made the last flight back to Dallas, barely. Doug was right, LOTS of Delta folks were on that flight

No not going to job fair. I was just too physically and mentally exhausted. Haven't got much sleep since arriving in Vegas. Im happy with ASA. I just going to get rested up and head back to Skymates and get my students done before heading to ATL. Remember to take care of the people who are taking care of you. I'll be in Dallas all week folks!

No kidding, the first day I ran into someone I know from another website too. And on the way out I met up with PeanuckleCRJ in the terminal. That last day was awesome, I got a class date, got the first flight out after I finished, and then ended up in first class.

It seems like just a few short months ago when you were just studying for your multi. Oh wait, it really was just a few short months ago!

Congratulations on getting the call!

Ahh it's only a jet. Let me know when you get the times and I'll get you on at Amflight!

Congrats again. I'll try to get up with you, before you head out to training, to finish the mission we started in Vegas. We got to find us two new ones though.
