Default Pinnacle

A slight change to my avatar...

I will be in the Oct 22nd class for Pinnacle. This is coming from one year flying freight at Airnet, and approximately 1.25 years of flight instructing. 2000+ TT, 500TPIC, 400ME

So... hello to all of my new fellow co-workers!

From what I learned in the interview:

The interview is painless and the gouges seem to be accurate, although I think maybe 1 out of 5 failed the written.

There will be a new hire class starting every Monday for the rest of the year at least.

They are really trying to get extra pilots to over staff the Delta -900 flying since it is a new customer. Delta has 40 more of these airplanes and have not decided where they will go yet. If 9E can do a good job with the airplanes they are already awarded, they may very well get some more.

Expect reserve times to go up a (little) bit since they will have the pilots for the -900's before they have the actual airplanes. Once the airplanes are delivered though, expect the reserve times to go back down.

There were 5 people in my interview group with times varying between 500 - 2000 hours. Also, various backgrounds (Part 91, 121, 135, ex mil).

For those of you wondering why I would leave a glorious job flying freight for Airnet, let's just say that I had many reasons that I can detail later. I would not discourage anyone from going to Airnet or flying freight at all. This was a personal choice and I am looking long term.

Congrats, man. Getting MSP shouldn't be a problem, either. You'll just have to endure the endless training here in MEM first.

They're trying to staff the -900s at 5:1 ratio (5 crews for each plane), which is WAY more than we staff the NWA stuff. They've officially delayed the transfer of the -200s to Mesaba, so that's crunching us staffing wise. Higney85 figured from the latest vacancy that about 10% of our seniority list is gonna be new hires, and that seems to check with my math as well. 89 FO vacacies + 32 CA vacancies. So, figure 32 FOs upgrading to CA, that'll open another 32 FO spots. Grand total is 121 FO opening, give or take.
