  |  Got the CMEL! Passed my commercial multi checkride today! It was an add-on to my commercial certificate. Did it in Traverse City, MI with an MEI named Tom Brady. What a great guy, and an incredible instructor. Did it in a 1950's Apache 150 complete with auto gas-burning Lycomings, 35 amp generators, and hydraulic flaps. Talk about a fun aircraft to fly. The checkride consisted of engine cuts on rotation, during climb, during cruise, stalls, steep turns, Vmc demo, full engine feather/shutdown/restart, single engine ILS under the hood, and a few trips around the pattern with the typical engine failures, etc. It feels great to have it done with! If anyone is exploring training options for a multi add-on, I would strongly suggest looking into this. The cost was $1295, and it took 2 days/8 hours flight time. Excellent instruction and a great 'ole airplane. The website is www.traverseair.com. The airport is served by the regionals, and traveling there would still be worth it, IMHO. |
