Another Texas FNG...

I am new to JC...just discovered it last week. I have really enjoyed the forums so far. Everyone seems to be helpful.

I'm in Houston, TX and flying out of KAXH. I should be taking my CFI check ride by the end of this month. I am really looking forward to teaching!

My career aspirations are to become a career pilot in the not too distant future. I have been strongly advised not to make a career change to aviation by a great friend of mine who is a FO at CAL because of the money I will be giving up to fly. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I have the passion and desire to fly for my work, rather than sit in a cubicle...and that cannot be reversed.

1st Off - Welcome to JC! Don't be afraid to jump in and ask questions or contribute where you can. As for your friends advice, like all advice, to it into consideration but ask more than one person. Each answer will differ in some way. Do your homework and only you will be able to make the decision.

Are you flying with Dutch Wings down there? Good luck on your CFI ride, its one of the best

No, across the ramp at Success Aviation. Hopefully, the ride won't be too bad...I am nervous about taking it with the FAA though since I've never done that before.

Welcome to JC. I work as a CFI at Dutch Wings. I just did my ride with the FSDO in June. PM me the name of your FSDO examiner, I may be able to help you out with some gouge.
