Wow. Just jumped out of the swimming pool and found this thread. It's 90 degrees here today and not a cloud in the sky. Think I'll go put some Aloe Vera so the sun doesn't burn my skin.

Just over 80 here in SD. But it's cloudy and the wind is blowing about 35mph from the SW. Regardless, still a nice day for fall. Next week it will be 40 degrees and probably trying to snow.

How is it warmer in South Dakota than in San Diego??? GLOBAL WARMING!!! ARMAGEDDON!!! WAKE TURBULENCE!!!

Hey! That's the view from Tiburon!

I'm a former Marin-ite myself; lived in Sausalito for 5 years, I miss it terribly...

You are correct. Aloft, how long ago did you live here, and why did you leave?

Becky, just noticed your registration here at JC. Welcome! Where are you flying out of in MN. There is a small growing JC group here in Minny... When I am flying I belong to a flying club at KFCM.

Thanks for the welcome - folks are quite friendly on the forum. I'm an east-sider, and I fly out of 21D. I'm taking PPL lessons w/ Valters Aviation in Lake Elmo. So I notice the , "when I am flying", I take it you're not flying right now, or not as much as you would like? And which club are you in over at Flying Cloud?

small world...East-sider myself. Grew up around 5th + Johnson Pkwy. Went to Harding (ssshhh.) parents still live in the same house.....Yes, not flying as much as I'd like. Cloud7 is where I am at. Great Club, but debating whether or not I sell and use the $$$ for commercial hours or stay and build time time until the comm. The one problem is the only complex a/c is the C210's and I am not taking my commercial ride in that beast.

Lived in the bay area (Oakland) for 5 years, loved it, but couldn't afford to live there. I rented someone's garage to live in while I went to grad school at Berkeley.

I used to do a bike ride starting by Embarcadero station, across the bridge and through Tiburon, catching the ferry back to town. And hiking around Mt. Tam was great.

Skycougar - enjoy the view!

Don't know what your preferences are for a complex a/c to build hours on (and know nothing about the commercial requirements), but my local FBO has an Arrow for rent for $140/hr wet, would something like that work?
I work at 3M - used to spend a lot of time in the east side tape plant.

The req's for the complex a/c are 10 hours (I believe). An arrow or 172 RG would probably where I end up. I could rent the clubs C210 for that price, but it is a very big/fast plane and I know I wouldn't comfortable taking a checkride in it with very little time.

The tape plant...over off of 7th street? I used to hate that smell. You'd get 3m making tape and Stroh's making beer. P-U-E.....

Yeah, it can be pretty pricey around here. As much as I love it here, I probably won't be able to retire here. . My youngest son is living and going to school in Berkeley. He somehow managed to find a place to live over there, but he's sharing it with 3 other guys.

That bike ride is still a VERY popular ride. There will probably be 50 bike riders waiting to get on every ferry that departs from Tiburon today. Good to have you onboard Becky!

Nope, this works just fine, but can be cumbersome with moving boats, binoculars work just fine, maneuver well, and are more efficient!
