|  Attempting a career-change in mid 30s I just registered here, and wanted to say hi to everyone. With no previous flight experience, I'm thinking of going to the flight school and to become a commercial pilot. I'm 34 now, and don't have much time to waste. I've been reading a lot in this forum and web. I live in Aliso Viejo, CA, so SNA is the closest, and I'll probably choose either Sunrise or OCFC. I heard they are expensive, but don't want to drive to Long Beach two, three times a week. My plan is to start the demo flight in a few weeks, and start working toward ppl some time in November. Any advice, recommendation, encouragement, etc are appreciated. -Bryan |

| Re: Attempting a career-change in mid 30s well,you don't really have to worry about time to become a professionally paid pilot, unless you think it might take you 20 years. I have students training well into their 40s with the same goals and see them move on. |

| Re: Attempting a career-change in mid 30s First, welcome to JC! Next, congrats on making the decision to change careers. I too, am a career changer. Made the jump into flight training at 32. Haven't looked back since......now 36 and flying at Colgan. If it's what you want, you can do it. Just maintain your focus and study. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress! |
