Default Always had a thing for Lois Lane...

She might not like it, but I have to make an announcement for Kristen. She was just offered a job today as a writer for a local newspaper!

There's a two week "probationary" period where they can can her ass if she can't hack it, but I think she'll do just fine.

Is that for the Courant or the Inquirer?

Congratulations.... hope you like it, it's kinda like piloting, past the "glory days" with lots of bitter souls.

1. Thanks, all!

2. I'm anticipating the stodgy bitterness from the older ones...in fact, I think it'll be interesting.

3. It is online as well as print - more after I get through the two-week trial. I don't want to jinx myself. I've never been a news writer (done columns and essays, but not news articles), so the switch will be educational, to say the least.

It'll be interesting for a few weeks, but a lot of those newspaper folks got screwed worse than pilots have ever been.

Here's the thing, though - I'm doing it so I can write for a living instead of being an admin assistant.

I'm all too happy to get screwed doing a writing job (no sex joke implied, so whoever is thinking it, quit it!) - in fact, I'd prefer it to getting paid MORE money for doing something I absolutely loathe. (Fetching things and doing things for people to help further THEIR career and business does not appeal to me at all. I'm probably the worst admin. assistant in the country.)

And that's why writers will never get paid more. Shiny paper syndrome.

You see how this stuff is all interrelated?
