Yeah, you're gonna fit right in here. And if you need any guidance about who the members here who prefer WOMEN over girls, WildCougar and SkyCougar can give you a list.

For a small fee, of course!

I had 3 HP's over the years - love RPN and I really liked my 29C (programmable!). I gave up after I couldn't get batteries for them any more. Had a slide rule back in '76, so the Jeppsen flight computer really takes me back! Keep your HP's going as long as you can.

And I might know of just the place to rent an airplane from when you are up in this neck of the woods

Hey Beckyanne, you just became my new best friend! I'm diligently working on my Master's in Mech E, right now. I'll be sure to beg for help when I get into fluid mechanics again. (Don't worry though, I'm more than happy to return the favor with aerodynamics and general piloting help!)

Oh, BTW, welcome to JC!

Cool! Of course first I have to get the piece of paper that says FAA thinks I'm qualified to rent, and get the other piece of paper that says I won't drop dead in the cockpit.

I knew I was really bit by the flying bug when I was on top of Schoodic mountain with the kids this summer, beautiful view of Mt. Desert Island and Tunk Lake, and what am I thinking? "Gee, only place for an emergency landing around here would be a blueberry field - everything else is just trees and rocks." Oh brother.

You're in Old Town - with the University? The canoe maker?

If you stick with viscous liquids I can probably help (oops, judging from some of the previous posts I really should be careful about my wording....) Low Reynolds numbers, lubrication flow, viscoelasticity, etc, wrote computer code for simlating viscoeslastic free surface flows in grad school. But air is fast and thin and compressible - a whole 'nother animal.

Good luck with the Master's!

Ok, that WAS pretty funny.

(Actually it'll probably be another couple of semesters before I have to take the next fluids course. This program seems to focus mostly on solid mechanics, solid deformation, and solid dynamics.)

Anyways, good luck getting those two pieces of paper you were talking about. They're pretty fun, once you have 'em.
