Default Colgan interview!

Hey everyone.. Ive been offered an interview with Colgan this Friday Sept 28. Kind of excited, cuz after all the hard work, i feel like im getting somewhere.

Anybody else that is going to this interview, let me know, we can discuss things together in the next couple of days.

Colgan guys out there, any pointers? Advice? How do you guys like the company? Some ppl ive talked to like it, some say its ok to begin there, some dont really like it... whats your views?

And you guys that are in training hows it been going?

I'll post something closer to the interview or shortly after it and I'll let everyone know. Wish me luck!

Congrats on the interview!

What are your times?

I see you're in DC, did you go to the job fair this past weekend?

Congrats on getting the interview! I won't comment on Colgan because my situation is a bit biased, but just make sure that you are aware of all of the aspects of working for this company.

Read the interview gouges at aviationinterviews.com as well, they are a very good prep for the interview. Goodluck!

There are three segments to the interview as I'm sure you've read.

There is a written exam, you need to score at 70. ATP weather, do you hear me? ATP weather. Do you hear me? ATP Weather! Aeromedical and Jepps.

Technical Interview...you need to know why you want to work at Colgan. Also- you need to know about your most current twin. Know it inside and out.

The most important part of this interview is the inevitable simulator. You must do well on this or you WILL NOT get the job. Plain and simple. Have a good instrument scan. Even though they need people, they WILL not settle for mediocre instrument scan.

Get a good nights rest before the interview, if you're flying in that day it will be a very long day and you're going to wish that you had the rest.

Good luck, have fun and I hope to see you on line soon.

--Yes I was at the DC job fair. It was a good thing to attend... I had already sent my resume to Colgan and spoken with recruiters, Cathy Angelo and Karen Chase before, but I think that meeting them in person gave them a reason to call me (am i that goodlooking? hmm?.. haha jk)

times are 500/65 alot of IFR and cross country tho, I think that may have set me apart a little from other low-time pilots. Also, college degree, 3.5 GPA from University of Maryland (in top 20 public univs) some guy at the job fair didnt have a degree and i kinda used that to explain my low time situation and i think they liked the fact i was dedicated enough to go to college and build my time and licenses at the same time.

Congrats on getting the interview! Just be yourself and be happy to be there. They are watching you from the moment you enter the building.

As for how I like it??? I love it. My job is rewarding, challenging, and lots of fun. Life really is great. Of course it would be better if we had a union but I feel that will happen in time. The job is really what you make of it. Attitude is everything, a negative one will follow you around no matter which company you go to.

Colgan is growing, now is a good time to get in.

I'm sure they liked that. Chuck Colgan told me during the interview that they are looking for people with "fire in their bellies" who will show leadership and make good Captains for them. Good luck in the interview, and congrats!

If they drug test you than you are hired even if they havent told you yet

The sim is sensitive, brace your arm on the armrest for real slight movements. Talk to your sim partner and fully discuss what his duties are. The sim is a deal breaker but it is not that hard

Congrats on getting the interview,

Do like already suggested look at the gauges, def study your ATP stuff for the written part of the interview; Be yourself for the HR portion and listen to the sim instructor and you'll do fine. Keep up the instrument scan and use the trim.
This was my first month on the line and it has been a great experience.

Good luck and keep us posted

I'm not so sure that is the case. I'm pretty sure they drug-tested everybody in our interview group, but did not offer positions to everyone in the group.

I talked to one on the way back from getting drug tested, he did not get to get drug tested and was sent home for a poor sim performance I think they said
