Default Bought/Building a house

Signed the paperwork, pre-approved for the loan (crossing fingers), picked out our "upgrades" at the design center.

Scared ####less.

Excited too.

It's not a custom home. It's a track home. But yeah I've been around a few homes that have been built and it can be a frustrating process.

That's great! Congrats! I think I'm going to start looking for something after the first of the year...assuming I get a raise...

Is that a faux balcony or is it operational in any sense?

Either way, looks like a very interesting design. Definately something to appreciate, nothing better than home ownership.

OUTSTANDING! Congrats!

And, by way of our careers being on some kind of weird parallel:

We, too are building a house! Just got back this afternoon from the design center where we aslo finalized our upgrades/options.

Now....if someon would just make us a firm offer on our existing house.....construction can begin.

Anyone? Anyone?? Bueller.....Bueller....

..
Lovely design centers...you leave there feeling like you just bent over and took a serious one in the no-no....

That's where they make most of their money...though we're guilty of the same thing. We left with carpet, tile & appliance upgrades and granite slab in the kitchen. Oh well...

DAMN! Looks nice. I'm jealous. Wish my wife made more money! We're stuck in a 836 sq ft apartment. It sucks .

Where is it located? In my area something like that would go for about $350k!!

We thought it would be a good idea to just cut or new disposable income down to what we've been used to (by buying the house) than to get used to living with more money now and then take the hit in a year or so.

Plus I'm just damned tired of living in other peoples places. Not to mention the tax breaks ...

And it was a Holiday Rambler on Boulder Highway! FTW

Custom Builds are rewarding.....most of the time.

Wish now that I could just live in it.

Congrats, welcome to homeownership! You'll be much happier building equity instead of wasting money on rent. No need to be nervous, enjoy it and remember, you own it! There's nothing like deciding to paint your house or tear a wall down or do whatever you want (or wife wants). Congrats again!

Congrats on the new home.

I just put an offer on a home here in SYR. We'll see how it goes.

Plan on making it a crash pad......definitely nervous about it, though. It's a big home (one of, if not the biggest in the neighborhood)......4 br, 2 bath.....w/ a full apartment (1 br, 1 bath) in the basement. Way more house than I need by myself. If I can't find enough pilots that want to crash....I'll just try to find a couple roomies.
