| Hi there!!! I am new female student pilot that is 18 and doing the UND program through Spokane Falls. So far I have about 17 hours that I have flown and about 3 in the simulator. The days I get to fly and be up in the sky are my most exciting and enjoyable days. This has been my dream since I was about five and it makes me happy to know I'm achieving it a little bit at a time each day!! I just LOVE being up in the air and being able to fly. I know I want to have a career as a pilot when I'm finished with schooling but I really don't know where. After the two years at Spokane are up I don't know if I want to go to UND to finish the remaining two years or go into the air force. My future plans are that I want to fly commercial but I'm not sure for which airline. I also thought about flying cargo. Basically, I have hundreds of questions about what I should do and about aviation in general. Any advice to flying, money/scholarships, jobs, things to look out for or do, anything that you might know that could help me in aviation and my decision after I finish my two years at Spokane Falls? IF you have any comments, let me know I'm open to any suggestions and advice. PLEASE and THANK YOU!!! Thank you for your time!!! ![]() Flygirl22 |

| Welcome to JC! I was an instructor at UND Grand Forks. Also, there are a few others on this board that instructed/trained there should you ever have questions about UND at GFK. Have fun with your training, and happy flying! |

| my advice is fly to MA and do the unusual attitudes or aerobatics program with me It gives me a reason to fly upside down and helps you out immensely as a pilot

| If you want a guaranteed flight slot in the AF, join an Air National Guard unit strictly to fly. If you want to fly, for example, F-16s, join a unit that has F-16s so that way you are guaranteed to fly 16s. If you go active duty, you will go thru flight school and be sent to a squadron based on your flight skills. They may send you to fly C-130s(which nothing is wrong with that!!!) but if your intentions were to fly 16s, it would be discouraging. Plus, by joining an Air National Guard unit, you are part-time and only fly with them to keep your hours current. Drawback:if your unit is mobilized or deployed you will be put on active duty, but usually for only a 90 day tour.

And don't worry about which airline to work for--by the time you're old enough to be hired by any of them, today's crappy ones will have great pay and quick upgrades. Except for Mesa.
