I finnally decided, after a few months of lurking, it is time to step out of the audience and get on the playing field. A little about myself, I am a 22 year old junior in college majoring in Business Admin. I am a North Dakota native, but have been living in Maryland for 2 years now. Aviation has always fascinated and intrigued me, however, money is of the essence and I have not been able to get that dream off the ground until lately. After spending hours reading the forums and researching the different routes one can take to get into aviation I finnally just went up to the local fbo at FME and took a discovery flight. So far I have logged 2.6 hours and am loving every minute of it. I haven't decided on whether or not I will pursue a career in aviation, but I love flying and will continue my training and see what opportunities it presents me. A special thanks to Doug, Kristie and all the members that make Jetcareers what it is. It has been a great help to me and I hope to "pay it forward" when the time comes. |

Welcome. I was a long time lurker also. I've flown into FME a time or two or twenty. How do you like training there? I used to work for the school at BWI. Flight training is not cheap out there, that's for sure. Mike

I know the school that you worked at, they are expensive. I also did two flights up at MTN which I liked but FME was much closer. I found out quickly that flight training is expensive out here, but right now I'm getting a 152 for $71/hr. Not too bad. Thanks for the welcome everyone | |

Welcome to the site. I've already read a boat load of information here since I started lurking (although A380 load would be more appropriate).

Money is definitely a struggle for me too. However, the desire to fly has definitely won that battle. So I find myself working two jobs to pay for it. I have 16.3hrs and will mostly likely be soloing this week! I, much like you, do not know if I want to pursue it professionally or just continue falling in love with it as a hobby. I wish you the best of luck with your training. About how often are you currently able to fly?
