Default Passed Private Checkride !

Hey everyone yesterday I passed my private checkride. A very long day let me tell you.
The oral was about 2 hours. Mainly because of a misunderstanding with the examiner and the mechanic. Not my fault but should of caught it. The rest of the oral was going good. The examiner got me on a systems question which I knew, but I didn't really have a full understanding about, or my answer didn't have as much detail as he would of liked. other than that, went good.
The flying portion went pretty good. Nailed all my maneuvers, one of my landings could of been a little bit better, but it was exceptable.
Got some debriefing on what I should improve on, overall passed.
One of the happiest days of my life. I'm very proud of myself and ready for the next challenge , IFR BABY!!!
Thanks to everyone who helped me out along the way with my training. Everything from e6b questions, to checkride prep. I really appreciate all the help I got from this site and will be more than happy to help out anyone else along the way. " Paying it Forward" is what it's all about.
Thanks folks and safe flying

Congrats man. I am about 2 months ahead of you and I can tell you that the Private was quite a bit harder than the IR. Not that the IR is easy..by any means. But, now you have the tools that you need to learn how to fly the airplane. The IR is much more cut and dry and not quite as open to interpretation as the Private or Commercial...as far as being judged on the maneuvers. I just took my IR checkride last Tuesday. Make sure to know DPs like the back of your hand. 90% of your training will be flying the approach, and very little time will be paid to DPs. The DE that I had spent 90% of the oral on DPs and SIDs and 10% on the approach. The majority of the fatalities using the IFR system happen on the departure...because people focus so much more on the approach instead of the IFR departure.

Hope this helps, and good luck. And, don't get frustrated if learning to perfect the ILS is a very similar experience to learning how to land the airplane. Getting down the ILS was the hardest part of my training. Keep us informed, bro.

This is true, although not all examiners focus so intently on DP's, but I as an instructor focus more on them than many do.

All that aside, congratulations on getting your private! Now get out there and have some fun with it! Take a trip, take a friend, just have fun, but be safe!
