Default New Instrument Pilot

Passed the IR checkride this afternoon/night. I'll post the checkride experience for those interested in the checkride section. Overall, a good ride and I nailed the art of holding....even with a nice little teardrop entry!

Outstanding man, really really really....did I say....REALLY, focused on 100% safety. Every single question that he asked me surrounded a fatal accident that happened. He threw me for a loop on SIDs and DPs, and the famous trouble "T." Since the only place in the area that had any sort of SID was Atlanta, I really didn't focus that much at all on that aspect. Just so happens that the majority of his questions were surrounding the departure aspect of an IR flight plan. I'll post a full write-up on the checkride in the next day or so, but for now....I am back in Dallas and gonna spend a week with the wife, without any books.

Thanks for the congrats guys. Much appreciated.

KGTR - Accessible Aviation (http://www.accessibleaviation.com) in Columbus, MS. Would love to get together. A few of us on the board are in the area. You come down, and we will have a get together. RickyRhodesII can even give us a tour of the TRACON, as he is an ATC for the area and loves doing tours .

Hit me up on a PM with the details. I will be back in town next Wednesday. I am back visiting with the wife for a week in TX.

Just posted the checkride experience under the checkride section. Sorry for the length, but since I have learned tons from other posts, hopefully the length and details I provided there will help others out come their turn!

Thanks for all of the congrats guys. This forum is one of the best resources out there and I appreciate everyone for the encouragement and feedback with everything.

Well, I guess you beat me to it! Congratulations! So you figured out holding during the checkride?!? Just giving you a hard time.

By the way...i read your post in Checkride Central, thanks for the write up. Did the "Red book" help you out any?

Hey Captain! Yep couldn't have done it without the red book. We'll talk, but I recommend getting a binder of a couple of 50 count 4x6 bound note cards and write out all of the questions and answers in that book. It is not that big at all...not like the PPL or CPL ASA book. Have your wife grill you with those index cards for about an hour a day and you will be golden.

Check out the new electronic HSI that draws the holding pattern out on the Garmin 430 for the Seneca. Check the ATP page out on his website, it has the pics there.

Give me a call later in the week.
