Arrow Hello from Colorful Colorado!

I've been lurking around here for a bit and have gleaned so much great information I had to de-lurk for once!

I'm a CSEL-IA with a degree (finally, whew!) I'm working on my CMEL-IA add on and hope to have it polished off shortly (maintenance willing.)

I'm really looking forward to either some CFIing or getting in on some turboprop action soon. Born and raised a Colorado boy, but willing to move anywhere for some flying, even California.

Thanks to all you JCers out there for building this great repository of knowledge. I hope I can ask a few dumb questions and maybe answer a few too.

-Mark

I second the idea of a JC Colorado thingy. Maybe DIA would let all of us use the brokedown baggage system as our own personal roller coaster.

Bike21, you an ex McAir guy?

Ha! Love the idea about the baggage system! What a waste!

Yep, McAir alum

Loving the idea of a baggage-system-rollercoaster meetup... that's about all it's good for!

PilotBeckfizzle: I do most of my flight training out of Centennial, but do get out to BJC and BKF and such for some other flights

McAir Alum checking in. Also studied under the watchful eye of TimBuff10 and Bike21. Good guys to know if you need to know anything about rapid transit air displacement vehicles.

Heh, yeah I've been with Flights for a while... well before the name change actually. I've been quite happy there although I covet the DA42 at Aspen.

I went and talked with McAir when I was just starting my PPL... the staff was friendly and the instructors seemed quite competent, but the drive too BJC was not gonna cut it for me.

I know what you are saying about the drive! My wife used to commute daily from Boulder to downtown Denver. That was rough!

I know Wade, the sales guy from flights and Precision. He is a crazy and fun character.

Hey I used to make the drive from Parker to Jeffco during my first stint at McAir... It was totally worth it!

I still want to do a Leadville trip sometime but not sure if McAir even allows that anymore.

Nothing beats flying in Colorado!

Hardly the case. Some people should listen to me...just not people who want to take the shortest route from A to B. On the other hand, everything that Bike says should be taken with a healthy dose of skepticism.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't there something in the news recently about United starting up the baggage coaster again? It was always funny seeing the maintenance guys picking out luggage off the netting below.

Haven't heard anything about this. I kinda hope not, because it is nice walking through the quiet basement to the crew lounge

I guess you had me beat in the drivetime dept then!
Yeah, Leadville is neat, in fact that is where I took the picture in my avatar. Get a certificate signed and make sure to pet the cat! Might want to drop by Glenwood Springs for a neat approach too (a good place to have someone guide you in the first time.)

I recall seeing that too. I think they were basically going to build a new one! I'll see if I can find the article. Here we go...

Well - there ya go! I had once thought it would be a great idea to bring an old sleeping pad and crawl up one of the ladders and take naps on the conveyor belts on those long airport appreciation sits. Somehow, though I don't think the airport ops and security folks would like that idea
