I passed my oral/flight test Sunday!! The examiner I had was a really personable and nice guy. I knew 98% of all the questions he answered except mainly 2 that come to my mind right now. When does class E airspace begin, and G end... Which I plan on doing a write up on that with a pic. of a sectional so anybody that's confused can hopefully get it. Because I was having a hard time understanding the Blue/Magenta shading in Class E... And he explained it really well. The other one was about TFR's, he asked me some examples and I told him for example, if president bush is in town, or maybe a large wildfire where they are doing water-bombing. He still wanted to hear another answer and I wasn't quite getting what he wanted, so he asked "Are you a sports fan?" and i thought... Duh! You can't fly over the Super Bowl!... Or large gaterings of people, and that was the answer he was looking for. The flight part of the test went pretty good. I flew RIGHT OVER the VOR that I was going for. The wind was blowing pretty good and it was 28 miles out from the airport and it was my first time flying to that VOR, so I felt a little better about it. The only things I really could of done better on, was the approach to departure stalls, and S-turns around a road. On the departure stalls, he said I was wanting to "break" the stall and I needed to let it just stall more smoothly. And on the S-turns, I wasn't quite judging the distance I needed when flying downwind and I was leveling off before I hit the road. But other than that, I did everything else great. So it took me about a year and 2 months to get it. Which may seem a long time to some of you guys, but I started when I turned 16 so I had quite a bit of solo time waiting for my 17th birthday to come around. I think I have around 63 hours or so. Thank you all...this is absolutley the best site for pilots anywhere. Period. --Okie_Pilot |
