| Old Skool | I had the honor of buying blee256 his last meal before he went off to Basic Training here in SAT today. We found out, via another thread, that we may be in SAT at the same time. It just so happened that I was commuting into SAT early today and he was coming in on a flight from LAX with his yellow envelope in hand. (Those of you who have flown flights to SAT are aware of all the young guys & gals coming in with their "yellow envelopes"). I knew Brian from flight school... but probably haven't actually seen him in person for well over a year. So it was really cool to meet up with him again... and especially cool to be able to buy him a decent meal with some nice Flan for dessert before his 6+ weeks of hell. ![]() His words... "I wouldn't have believed that the last person I'd talk to before going to basic would have been you Bob..." ![]() He's in for a long night! I'm sure he won't be posting for a while on here either... Good luck Brian! Bob

| Old Skool | This is in San Antonio? What's that, Air Force Basic? Geesh... he'll only be there for 6 weeks! ![]() It's cool you got to see him before he went... he just needs to keep it all in perspective and he'll be fine. |

| It will soon be 8.5 weeks...I think I might need to go "pay a visit" during one of long, relaxing, lunch breaks!!! It was only 95 degrees today...what a great time for basic! |

| Junior Member | That was a nice thing to do Bob. ![]() Quote:
I did my Navy Basic Training in Orlando in July/August. I really enjoyed running back to the barracks after "dinner" trying to beat the afternoon thunderstorms you could set your watch by. Good times.

![]() He said he tried to get an October slot... but that didn't work out. He's going to be a firefighter... so he's going enlisted. Bob

| Old Skool | I remember making the trip down to SAT with "the" yellow envelope in hand. It's a great experience to have gone through.

| Old Skool | Hi Bob!! thanks again for the meal. I graduate tomorrow. Today was our retreat and coining (recieve my airman's coin) ceremony. I officially graduate tomorrow. So i am currently on base liberty. SO what do I do with it? Jetcareers, of course. Haha yes bob is correct, i am taking Mil Leave from pinnacle. My base manager is retired air force, so he is really cool about it. That and its illegal if they werent. Just one correction, I joined the guard. Not reserve. I think i will put in for a pilot slot in the future, but one step at a time for now. Thanks for everything bob. -brian about the wx, i heard its unusually wet this summer in SAT. it reminds me of Jax.
