Hi all, I'm Tadpole, a student pilot. I'm active duty enlisted in the Air Force with 6.5 more years until retirement. I plan to make flying my 2nd career after I retire, with my end goal being corporate. I'm currently stationed in Colorado Springs, CO and doing my training at an Air Force Aero Club. I'm scheduled to change assignments next June and should have my Instrument, Commercial, and MultiEngine done by then. My next assignment will be my last one until I retire and I'm trying to get to Phoenix, but could end up in numerous places. After I move next summer, my plan is to find a part time job to build time, ME preferably, during the remainder of my service. That will hopefully put me in a decent position to get a decent job that will eventually lead to my end goal of corporate jets. For my education, I'm 6 credits from an AS in Aviation Maintenance and halfway through my BS. I plan to get a Master's before I retire as well. Gotta love the education benefits of the military! I also have all 3 of my A&P tickets, I'm just studying up to knock that out. I figure having my A&P is a good way to help me network into where I want to work, as well as provide that "backup" career should flying not work for some reason. I look forward to comments and advice. I've already started searching the board for ways to build ME time part time. I figure I'll CFI for the most part, as a time builder, plus I love to teach. I've been teaching for years as it is. But I'm also interested in other ways to find part time work while still serving in the military to build time that will help me in my end goal. Blue Skies, Tadpole

After reading around alot, I'm getting the idea that if I want to end up in Corporate, I need to concentrate on building time by CFIing, flying Part 91, or flying Part 135 stuff and avoid the regionals / 121 stuff.

Hah, I feel like an idiot sometimes. I've learned so much in the past couple of days between reading online, talking to a friend that flies corporate, and some friends that fly for majors and legacy. I'm starting to hold off on my idea of saying I want to fly corporate and just wait and learn more. The airlines don't sound all that bad either. They both have pros and cons. As I learn more, I'll see what fits the life I want to have.
