| Junior Member | Since this is my first post I just wanted say how thankful I am for this website. It has been a great source of information for me. I have been reading the forums for a while now and finally decided to start posting. Just a little about me, I have had two lessons so far and logged 3.6 hours. Im flying out of KLIT at my local FBO. I love it so far, however Im a little anxious about my first milestone, the solo. My instuctor says im picking up everything like I should but im not sure when I will be ready. How long did it take you guys to solo? |

| Old Skool | Welcome to JC! Search the forum for the solo answer - many, many threads on it. In case you don't want to search, people's times have ranged from 5 to 25 hours. Keep in mind though, the hour level you solo at isn't particularly important in the long run. |

| Senior Member | When you do solo, don't do any high speed passes over any control towers....or an admiral's daughter.... |

| Senior Member | Welcome to JetCareers. It took me from the time of my first flight until my first solo about 2 weeks. It really depends on how often you train. Good luck to you!

| Welcome to the board and aviation!!!! As others have said, time to solo isn't important. What is important is that you know what you are doing when you do! |

| Welcome to the forum, and don't even worry about the solo. I got a German dude his private in 36 days but it took him 20+ hours to solo, just because the weather wasn't favorable. A lot of people solo in 9-12 hours, but it really isn't necessary. The student I'm talking about finished in a respectable 46 or so hours. Your instructor may have a plan in place, so don't measure your progress solely on how long it takes to solo. Mike |
