Default PenAir Interview next week

Finally after 4 months in Alaska I've managed to score an interview with Penair. Any other pilots on JC that fly for PenAir? Or are also interviewing for the Feb. class.

Thanks,
Bryan

The very small town of Anchorage. I'm from Socal so the fact that they think they need traffic reports in the morning up here cause supposedly there's alot of people on the roads cracks me up.

If you think Anchorage is small just wait till they ship you off to Bethel, probably the anal Shpincter (sp) of the earth. The flying is good fun up there. If things don't happen at Penair I think Hagelands is looking for 207 pilots as is Yute air but I don't think I would fly for Yute. Good luck and enjoy.

To me Anchorage seems huge. I think the real reason for the road reports are because of so many people off the road. I swear people up there dont know how to drive. I was just up there the other day, we drove in from Haines, and we passed so many car tracks in the ditch.

Other than that, Anchorage is a cool city.

PenAir doesn't fly out in Bethel...so you won't have to worry about that. Hageland, Grant, Craig Air....are always looking for pilots if you are qualified and interested. Bethel is what you make of it. i had a blast flying out there.

i interviewed and was offered a job at PenAir last August. It was a pretty painless and straightforward process.

first a written test. pretty easy stuff. a lot of stuff that isn't aviation related.

then an interview with the DO and Chief Pilot. "tell us about yourself" questions. a few crm situational questions. why should we hire you stuff.

lastly a sim ride. intercept an arc, shoot an ils, hold at a fix. shoot an ndb.

then have a nice day and we'll be in touch

be yourself, everyone there is real laid back.

i didn't take the job because i don't want to live in Alaska for the rest of my life...and if i fly for PenAir...it will be inevitable.

pm me if you have any other questions.

I'm curious why flying for PenAir would require you to stay in Alaska forever?

it wouldn't necessarily keep me here forever...

i've been here for a couple of years and i figure the next job i take...i'll be there for a while. the longer a person stays in Alaska...the harder it is to leave.

Ok done with the interview. Overall a pretty painless experience, considering its my first real interview. My last job I kind of just walked through the door talked to the owner and I had the job like that.

I'll talk to those other places again cause I will get min wage if I get called for the class but won't actually get hired until I finish IOE which makes me a little nervous cause I have to quit my current job just to do the class.

Bethel is what you make of it.

This is true but the same can be said for a warm water enema! My problem with Bethel was this. I am married with two kids and I just could not ask my wife to move to such a depressing place. For a single guy I suppose Bethel could have some perks.
