I dont post here much but what the hey, it never hurts to brag about yourself, right? Well anyways, Im a Marine going through Air traffic Control School with the Navy. After six agonizing weeks my class finnished block one today by taking the FAA Airmans Written Test Control Tower Operator. Well, I got a 96%, the highest grade in my class out of 3 Marines and 10 Sailors. Ive still got 9 more weeks in the sims before they'll send me out to the fleet for even more qualifications, but now I've got the boreing part over with. Let the fun begin!

| Big Chief's Woman | Well, isn't that good news!! top percent of your class is definately something to brag about!! but question... you have to take sim classes? why? is it a different type of sim class than what we're used to? I take it maybe ATC procedural sim? |

Honestly, I don't know. Im just a PFC, they dont tell us why we do anything, we just do it, lol. But, after only 6 weeks of strictly book work, I personally wouldnt want to be thrown into a real tower or radar room controlling real airplanes with real people on them and only have a few people looking over my shoulder making sure I dont kill anyone. So I imagine the sims are just so we can prove we can apply what we learned and make sure we really do have potential as controllers.

Hoorah Kill! Good job devil dog. The Marine Corps / Navy ATC school in Pensacola as well? I though it was just for flight training for pilots.

Yes, actually most of the aviation schools are here. All the schools here are run by NATTC, the Naval Aviation Technical Training Center, which is where the Navy has all their "A" schools for aviation rates. When I was in indoc here they told us MATSG-21, which is the unit all the Marine students fall under, is the largest unit in the Marine Corps.
