Cool New to the site, looking for aviation/safety jobs in DFW Metroplex

Hello Everyone (or as they say in the great country of Texas, Howdy!!!!!)

I just retired from the Air Force in 2005 as a weapons loader putting bombs, missiles and bullets on everything from F-4 Phantoms to B-1 bombers. Had a little fun in the sun (7 1/2 months) during Desert Shield/Desert Storm working F-111Fs in Saudi Arabia. In between all the extra-cirricular activities, I managed to take night courses at Embry-Riddle and get a BS in Professional Aeronautics and a Master's in Aeronautical Science (Airport Ops/Aviation Safety). While going to school, I began taking flying lessons in England with an instructor who flew Panavia Tornados during Desert Storm. Unique in that English airspace is equivilant to flying or driving in the DFW Metroplex (or watching the Dallas Cowboys play football: it's hideous, but always an adventure to watch). Anyway, I got my private pilot's license in 2003 in Abilene, TX (a little more room to operate) and try to go flying when I can afford it (ah, yes, money. The great equalizer!!!). If anyone knows of any Aviation/Safety jobs in the DFW metroplex, please let me know. I look forward to hearing from you.

Rhino,

Give me a week or so...I know one very good friend in safety at a LUVly airline!! I'll have to get back home to get the contact info for you, but he had an internship with the NTSB in the DFW area, and should have some people you can talk to.

Appreciate that, Stone Cold. In my first adventure in the civilian sector, I worked as a Maintenance Supervisor with Penske Truck Leasing in Dallas, TX. The best way you can equate this is by imagining a reality show that pits the cast from Smokey and the Bandit versus the cast from Deliverance!!! The only thing I didn't see was someone wearing hipwaders (although we could improvise the muddy river bank by using the Trinity River in Dallas). Anyway, I've got to get something that I can use as a stepping-stone to flying. The trucking thing just aint happening!!!

Thanks, Rhino 01, Out

Dyess almost makes Hell look like Club Med!!!! The only place worse would be Cannon AFB (Clovis, NM). There's nothing to do except go to restaurants....and go to Wal Mart (that IHOP is something else). People would volunteer to be stationed in Korea just to get out of Dyess. Working the B-1 is like putting a CD player in a Ford Pinto, AMC Pacer or Yugo (take your pick). I could go on for hours with the horror stories.

Note: DYESS is short for Did You Ever See Such Screwed Up Stuff (polite form, of course).

One place you might check into is Dyncorp. The do a lot of government work and operate multiple types of helicopters and airplanes. Being a vet could help you out, but I don't know what all they do.

RHINO....I didn't think LOAD TOADS could comprehend reading a book about flying (snicker, snicker) I miss doggin' on the weapons and AMMO folks, so I couldn't pass up on the opportunity. Welcome to JC.

Hey, we got uniforms and everthing!!! However, unlike AMMO, LOAD TOADS can count to 20 without using our hands, taking off our boots, or getting help from the audience (wanna use a life-line or call a friend?). As for flying, it's like driving a car, except you can't parallel park and it's a little harder to pull over and head for the bushes (wouldn't recommend the bushes in a Cessna, you may be seen by a passing airliner).
