Default Colgan Interview

Hi everybody. Well I finally have an anouncement for this forum. I went for a Colgan interview yesterday. I think it went pretty well, both my sim partner and I did pretty well. I ended up getting finger printed and taking a drug test so I'm hoping I got the job. I promise to do a write up in the interview section once I find out.

It has been said that they do not spend the money for FP's and Pee Tests if you are not going to be hired. I think this is a positive sign for you.

Good Luck! Everyone in my interview group last year did the drug tests, but I'm sure you got the job.

I'm in the Jan 8th class. My times were about 590TT and 430ME. I guess I did pretty well in the Sim. Obviously pretty low I'll give a shout out to my school Ari-Ben Aviator for helping me get as much multi-time as I did.

I'm pretty jazzed about all of this. My dad wants me to jumpseat one of his flights once I get through training which would be really cool.

So Colgan people, what kind of stuff should I go out and buy for training? One of my buddies that just finished IOE said to buy a laptop. I'm not sure why though and this was at the end of the night.

Not sure if you "need" a laptop. They are certainly nice to have.....stay connected to the outside world during ground school.

I would suggest bringing:

a notebook
some type of folder to put hand-out materials in (I used a 1/2" 3-ring binder w/ a packet of sleeves)
different color pens to distinguish important stuff during class (I used 3 colors.... black, red, light blue)
a highlighter
NOTECARDS.....they make studying much easier (and you'll have them for future reference/recurrents)
the most important would be a sponge-like brain....

More than that probably isn't necessary; besides, that'll at least get you started. You'll be able to figure out if you need something else once you're neck-deep in systems class.

Training is 6 days a week so going home is not really an option. Indoc is about 8 days, systems about 15, and sim is about 10-11. I think all in all it was about 5 weeks then IOE was only 3 days. Good luck in training, study hard cause we had two people not make it through. Cruise was right about the note cards and studying with friends makes things more clear (and sometimes more confusing). See ya on the line

I'm sure this will be something that will be answered for me but...What kind of headsets do you guys have? Should I just keep using my David Chucks or ask for something new for Christmas?

David Clark ANRs work like a charm.

What Cruise said you will need for training. A laptop is great for keeping in touch, keeping up with your schedule and pay, as well as bidding. If you do get assigned to the Express side get this book www.b1900.com It should be mandatory

They are LOVING Aviator guys. Who does your dad fly for?
