| Congrats on the Command! Quick question/s... Im not sure how it works in the US, but how come you didnt have a type rating on the aircraft when you were an FO?? Is that standard amongst all airlines? Obviously different here in Australia, but all FOs in my company undergo a full command type rating at initial training... The regs do allow for a Co-Pilot type rating, but seems pointless as a command type is more useful as its a tick in the box already when it comes time to upgrade. Cheers and good luck with the line training! MNC |

| You're soooo my hero. I want to be like you someday. Can I, can I? Just be sure to send me your schedule so I can bid avoid the days you're flying! ![]() Yes, it's standard in the States to not be typed as an FO. Flying to Canada, however, requires an SIC type (at least for us).

| Hey, thanks so much everyone. I finished my LOFT today, and start UOE on Friday. I'm flying in the Northeast/Midwest all weekend, so everyone in that area look out! It will be interesting if it snows. Going through BUF, CLE, MSN, so it seems like the chances are good for some deicing.Tracy, I don't think I'll ever bid CLE. The base is extremely senior, and the lines are slowly eroding with every bid period. I'm an EWR guy through and through, although a bid to IAH may be in order in the future due to some other opportunties that I'm pursuing at the company. We'll see. Really, thanks everyone. I'm really excited right now, although it's just a normal step in the career process.

| Old Skool | It will snow... get your holdover times down pat. You will lose a pack at FL350... You will have to the gate trying to feed you 75 checked bags, 10 heavies, and 25 gate-checked with full fuel & full pax for a flight from RDU-IAH with 200NM headwinds... You will have some funky ACARS indication that you have never seen before... ever... You will get a hold on a radial not near any point that's not standard... and you won't get any crew meals or coffee since the G8XXX FA forgot to tell you the coffee maker is broken... and this will all happen on your Fed Ride... At least... that's what they tell me... ![]() Good luck man! ![]() Bob

| Pretty much! But tentatively my fed ride is a MHT turn. So more weight restricted than RDU. ![]()
