| Just found out there closing my base down so it looks like im out of a job in a couple of weeks(thanks for holding on until christmas @ssholes). Anyhow I need to know Severence pay vs. unemployment. Are they required to give you severence pay and if so can you still collect unemployment.? details...anything I need to know. This'll be the first time i've been unemployed since i was 14....and im still broke. |

I don't believe it matters in regards to unemployment though.

| Old Skool | It varies by state, some will count a severance towards the amount of unemployment you are eligible for. I worked for a company that went out of business overnight and all the employees went unpaid for the last pay period (myself included). When I submitted the paperwork they told me that I would recieve only $170 a week, pre tax, until I found a new job or recieved the total eligibility amount of $3000. Because I was a student and had not worked full time for the past five quarters I was only eligible for 1/3 of my weekly check. I didnt wait around to find a job. Get in touch with your state unemployment agency and ask, they are the only ones that understand all the governmentese that goes into the dicision on your claim. |

| Just got off the phone...you gotta wait and lose your job before they'll really tell you whats what but it sounds like max in Texas is 365 a week and continues for a max of around 6 months or so depending on your earnings etc. Anyone have any info on continuing education stuff, maybe monies to get the ATP and stuff with?!? |

| already started calling people...but itll take at least a few weeks to schedule interviews, training dates, etc.. etc.. etc.. I was flying freight in 310's and 402's for Aero Charter and Transport. I'm not sure if they're gonna give us the chance to go to another base or what..either way its kinda hard to pick up and move with no assistance and 2 weeks notice. |

| Do you want to stay 135 or do you want to go 121? If you want the latter I can help you out.

| yah it sucks.....I'm sittin at 2400TT right now so just shy of all the fractional mins which is really where I was hopin to put in resumes in january. The other crappy part is that if i wan't to go fly freight for another place its gonna be hard to do because at my time they'll think I'll just leave when I get the chance and not stick out a while like they'd like to see. It sounds like I might have the option to move out to ABQ temporarily but they're not really providing any sort of assistance or temporary quarters if i were to go. So......i got two weeks to figure out WTF i'm gonna do. I'm gonna head up to the unemployment office and see what kinda assistance is available. |

| Sounds like you want to stay away from 121, but SkyWest desperately needs guys with your time. If you get on, your upgrade is virtually guaranteed to be less than a year for the Brasilia. In the highly unlikely event it's not, you can bail at any time for a fractional. Something to ponder.
