Flight Attendant question

Okay so my fiance has suddenly become very interested in pursuing a career as a flight attendant. Im not sure why the sudden change from the computer tech field to aviation but I wont argue with her. I think she is just really burnt out on it. She has signed up to attend an open house at Allegiant in November. My question is what should she expect at an open house? Do they interview on the spot or is it more of an information session? What are good websites for flight attendants so she can do some research on the career before jumping right in. there's also a "flight attendant" school......similar to your favorite direct track program.........they don't need it, and shouldn't pay for it. Just flew with a flight attendant that did go to the school, said it was the biggest waste of money she ever committed to...

An open house is the first step in the interview process. There will likely be an information session, followed by a group interview. The group may be divided into smaller groups where they'll be given a situation/problem to solve/discuss. During this situation the applicants are observed to see how they interact with others. Does an applicant not say a word? Overbearing and domineering of the group? The whole point is to work together, and not be either a non-participant or a bossy tyrant. Depending on the airlines practices or hiring needs, they may do one-on-one interviews that day, or they may be called back. Tell her not to be discouraged if she isn't hired on the spot, or isn't given a second interview that day. Some airlines do call backs, and it can even depend on how quick they're looking to fill a class.

Dress professionally, (that is, look like a flight attendant!). A nice suit, controlled hair, preferably an up-do, and natural makeup. Have a couple copies of her resume handy. Have all the information with her to fill out an airline application. That means references, and her complete work and residential history for the past 10 years.

I am a flight attendant and this is what happened to me. MQAAord pretty much hit it on the head. With my company, they held an open house. In that open house, the rep went over the company, the pay, the reserve period, and basic QOL for reserve and line holders. She pretty much told us everything that we needed to know that would make us second guess wanting to be a flight attendant and said plenty of times during the session that if it wasn't what we could see ourselves doing considering the ups and downs, then we could leave at any time. Of course, some people left. They also have you introduce yourself and read a few lines off of an announcement. This was to gauge how well you can read and present yourself in front of people. From there, if you made it to the second round, you were invited to a one on one interview. If you passed the interview, you got sent to the main base to get medical stuff done and then received your dates for your training class which for us was a month long. From there, you do your IOE and start on the line as a reserve. Hope that answered some of your questions if not all. If you have anymore questions about it, I would be glad to answer them. If I remember right Alegiant is 99% day trips. If she wants to be hove every night that would be a good thing, but if she wants it for the travel and overnights AAY wouldn't be the place to go.
