Default New Here, New Hire.

Been reading all of your wisdom/ sensless dribble for a long time without saying much and wanted to thank everyone for their insight. Just hired by Rochester Aerial doing the Aerial survey thing. Just wanted to know if anyone had experience with this type of work or with the company.

There are a few current/former survey pilots here. Check with Txpilot for one.

Requirements:
A minimum of 250 hours. Instrument and Commercial ratings. Basic Compouter skills. Ability to commit for the entire assignment length.
I see their requirements are quite low, what do most ppl get hired at? What's pay like? Sounds interesting....

I used to do low altitude aerial photography work in Canada. It was a blast and you will learn a lot. Just be sure to highlight all the towers on your charts

I was hired with just over 300TT/80 multi. Don't want to start a fire her, but wanted to avoid the CFI thing, and harrased the hell out of a couple companies for about six months before getting an interview. Pay is $1200 a month with $100 a day in per-diem. Not alot of money but there is a bonus after compeleting the entire season (May). I guess, low altitude photography would be the better way to describe the job.

I flew around an aerial photographer during my CFI days. As some else state make sure you have studied the area as you will be quite low and those pesky towers can sneak up on you...

have fun you should enjoy the flying...

Thanks for the input! I will be sure to eyeball the charts real close. I've heard a rumor that running into things can be hard on airplanes. Bandit, who did you fly with for the aerial photography?
