| A couple days ago I got an email from American Eagle offering me an interview. I applied 2 years ago and they offered me an interview then, but I didn't go because I was in training at SkyWest. Why are they sending interview offers to people that applied 2 years ago and didn't interview then? |

Not because it's a crappy place to work - it's not. Actually a great place. But, the upgrade time is non-existant at the current time. HOWEVER - American has just announced that they will start recalling their furloughed pilots - which means the pilots that "flowed back" to Eagle, so things will change in the near future. Still probably looking at a 4-5 year upgrade time out of the box though. Just MHO. R2F

| From an onlookers view, Eagle does not seem like a very appetizing prospect compared to most regionals. Their upgrade times, specifically, are ridiculous from what I can see. Perhaps they are a bit more secure than most because AMR owns them, but sitting in the right seat for 5-8 years probably negates that for alot of prospective new hires. So, to answer... 1) Desperation? 2) Clerical error? |

| Any way to know what base you will get before you start training? |

| Senior Member | I'm a sophmore in college with my IFR ticket and 140 hrs. If Eagle gave me an interview and than a job, I would probably drop out of college to go work for them. God I want to fly for a living.

| I went to the interview last week in Dallas and they basically told us that they were looking to fill two classes a month with 20 pilots each till the end of the year, then looking to put 30 a class twice a month after the 1st. They anticipate a big recall and upgrade times to get a little more realistic, but not alot of people (outsiders looking for work) believe that. So, they are apparently having a problem with filling classes. The week before I interviewed there were 20 scheduled in a class.....8 showed. all got Boston jet. They tell you on the first day of class what slots are open, and you pick based on seniority......oldest goes first. I didnt get the gig though, not sure why....different story.

| Old Skool | Not only are the upgrade times sick. . . the time spent on reserve are above and beyond any other regional. |

| Hmmm, I don't know yet Bob, I think I will hold out for a while and see how this thing with Frontier and the Q400s go. Thanks though, I will definetly keep that in mind and will keep looking into it. Sounds like Eagle will be hiring like mad! I just want to make sure I have that warm fuzzy feeling wherever I apply to, weather that be instructing or regionals. |

The problem is that you don't have any idea of what's available until day one of the class. Sometimes the recruiters will give you an idea, but many times their crystal ball is just as fuzzy as mine...

| I see on their website now their mins are hard at 1000/100 and only accept lower times if you pay thousands of dollars to some bridge program. With my luck, they would assign me to the ATR or whatever it is they fly out of San Juan. I think I would rather spend my weekends skiing than move to PR... Not to mention they also say you can plan on being on reserve for 6-12 months. Ouch! |

| I've been at eagle for 8 months and i have already moved up 200 numbers. Most people are leaving to go to skywest and a few other places. Skywest is the only place i would leave eagle for. But I live in NY and cannot wait to be based out of LGA just a 30 minute drive away. But anyway especially with the flowbacks possibly leaving this place might be the place to be. Only a few other regionals are expanding and with flowbacks going back to AA that is growth in my mind as a FO. I figured if the flowbacks all left today I would be about 300-400 numbers away from a saab captain. But people look and say WOW 7 Year upgrade I'll go elsewhere. But remember its the people that are upgrading today that took 7 years doesn't mean a new hire will take 7 years. Especially with the regional industry today any airline can become a 7 year upgrade. Eagle is probably one of the best places to be if you going to be stuck. |

I haven't been to work in 16 days and it's pretty freaking sweet. I honestly could go the entire year without once going to work. Once you hit the real world you'll understand!

| Old Skool | Does Eagle still have the astronaut physical or have they come down to the reality of other regionals yet? |

The fact is... you most likely won't ever get that warm fuzzy feeling going into the 121 environment... but I suppose you can get close. That's usually the time to get on at most regionals... hopefully at the head of the wave... and with upward movement too. Sounds like Eagles will start moving along soon. Quote:

Until then, I figure as long as I keep building experience, time, and having fun with it, and it doesn't piss the wife off (see being apart for long periods of time), an airline job will present itself. Regionals have been around for a long time, I am sure they will continue to.

Dude, stick with class. You'll thank yourself later. I just found out from Riddle that I have to take ENG123, freaking composition, b/c the AP Exam I took back in 93 (which counted at Miss State for 6 hours of English) doesn't count for jack as far as they're concerned. So, I could have either a) waited until I had 1,000 PIC hours to get credit for my flight ratings (36 hours of credit and I have about 860 hours PIC, no more until I upgrade unless I wanna pay for it in a 172) or b) re-filed under another catalog year to get the credits and take comp. Seeing as taking comp will be annoying yet quicker, I took the lesser of two evils. I'd rather be in philosophy class with you than taking comp, but it's a means to an end: the degree. I've been surprised how much I've moved up in 6 months here. I've jumped over 100 seniority spots, and we're not even growing.

Other than that, it's probably among the most stable regionals out there, and the pay and work rules aren't bad at all, especially once you get off reserve. I am going to enjoy my 18 days off next month that fall in between my commutable 4- and 3-days a lot more than I did my last month at eagle (on reserve) though. But it was so fun!
