| Old Skool | What are the best schools at KVGT? I am seriously thinking of leaving Boulder City. Its too friggin far for me to drive and they are limited on planes there, not to mention it is an uncontrolled airport and I really want to get more experience in a more controlled environment. I called First Flight and they have a pretty good variety of aircraft including a newer Diamond and Cirrus. However the prices are pretty high there. For example a Cessna 172 is $130 wet plus instruction at Boulder it was $100 plus instruction and $90 for the Piper. What other school is at VGT besides FF? Helppp I have been saving up all summer and need to get my fix and finish this up . Oh yeah I will probably need a new instructor so if you Vegas people know anyone up there.

| Try www.westairaviation.com Westair is a good school with a variety. Everything from older 172's to 172's with the G1000. They use the Arrow for complex and Bonanza for high perf. They use the Seneca II for multi. Hope that helps. |

| Anyways, West Air is kinda laid back and you have to make things happen the way you want. They are cheaper which corresponds to the fact that they have crummier planes. First flight is more expensive but is slightly more organized/focused, and they have nicer (newer) planes. if cost is the only factor go to West Air.

| Senior Member | I don't know if this helps but I think there is a place that might do training in the SR-20 out there. Probably not the cheapest but the customer service is quite good. I ended up getting stuck in LAS for a couple of hours due to some popped circuit breakers on a routine night flight from SNA. It took a while but the day was saved by a fellow from North Las Vegas and he said they did training in the Cirrus. A great plane and a lot of fun to fly. How far along are you in your training? For primary, Cirrus may be a stretch but if you are just looking to get single-engine current and a new entry to your logbook...tons of fun.
