Default Hired!

I interviewed last week at Flight Safety in Wichita and was offered a job as ground and sim instructor. I haven't received a class date or training program assignment as of yet. I'll keep everyone posted.

I'll hopefully be headed out there in a couple of months for Caravan training. I'll look you up when I do.

Please do, I probably won't be there until late November. FSI is being kind enough to allow time for my current company to hire and train my replacement. Since we are FSI clients, they will work with my company to get the new pilot a training slot as quickly as possible; so I could be there sooner.

I have a job update. My start date is officially set for November 28th, and I will definitely be instructing in the Citation Mustang. The program is not fully operational yet, as the first clients will not start training until February, so I will also be in the program from the beginning. I should get a chance to help with the program development of the Mustang.

Ryno,

That sounds very interesting. I'm curious as to what your previous flight experience consists of?

I've been flying a corporate jet for just over 5 years. That is my only professional flight experience. I have done some freelance flight instruction on the side.

Congrats Ryan!

Out of curiosity, how come you decided to take a job like this instead of staying on the line...especially at your age?

Like I told a friend of mine the other day, "I became a pilot because I like to fly, not because I like to travel." I'm just getting tired of living out of a suitcase and not knowing when I'm leaving, where I'm going, and how long I will be gone.

I don't know what it's like at the Cessna center but I worked 8 days last month, scheduled to work 8 days this month, and my 2 days of work this week each consist of 1 three hour groundschool for a total of 6 duty hours this week!! What a racket!

What do you do with all of your spare time? I get bored to death when I have a few days off...

Spare time?? HA! I wish! I have a house, a wife, and a baby.........there is no free time. Actually I'm not sure what I do all day but somehow the day goes by and I stay busy all day. But you're right - after a few days I'm ready to go back for a couple.
