| Old Skool | So... I'm on Day 2 of a 4-day trip. My wife calls me up and says she feels a little "wierd". Braxton Hicks contractions were ramping up, and she really felt that this was all leading to the big day... 5 days early, and thought she was on her way to the hospital. I call the chief pilot's office as I'm about to takeoff from DAY to EWR. No one answers so I leave a detailed message. I land in EWR, check my messages, and the Chief Pilot's Admin has changed/dropped my schedule and set me up with a Positive Space home within 1 hour of arriving in EWR. I get home and she's not on the way to the hospital... just sitting at home with her feet up still feeling "weird", but very glad I was home. We go to bed and at 4:30am... she turns to me and says... "Bob... my water just broke." Off to the hospital! Needless to say... our second birth was much easier than the first. Once fully dialated she only had to push through 4 contractions and out popped my new baby girl! Details: Rangeley Ann Moyer Born: September 13, 2006; 2:02pm Weight: 7lbs 5oz Length: 20 1/4" Hair: Blonde Eyes: Blue Wingspan: TBD... ![]() Baby and Mommy are doing wonderful! Kudo's to my wife for feeling "wierd" enough to cause me drop my trip and get my keister home (I could have been stuck in OMA on a 19 hour overnight)... and major kudos to my company for making it happen, seemlessly! Bob

| Old Skool | congrats good luck to the years ahead. is it normal for airlines to give you leave like that on such short notice? it seems like that is a great place to be working. but enough said congratulations and best of luck to your wife and kids. |

| Big Chief's Woman | Congratulations!!! sept 13th is a good day to be born... it's my best friends birthday too!! my sister had her 2nd within a 20 minute timespan.. sounds to me as your wifey had the same type of labor? nice and easy? how does big sister feel about her new little sister? Give her our best!! ![]() |

| Old Skool | Good question... but it's pretty easy... "Range - Lee"... not "Rang - Lee" as some nurses have already mispronounced! ![]() Super easy labor... compared with 19 hours last time with 5 hours of HARD pushing. Sooooo much easier this time around. Chris... ummm... maybe next time. Besides, I never got that naming bonus we discussed! ![]() Big Sis is VERY excited... she was holding her today and singing to her. She has been so very helpful in getting ready for her to come home. I think she's going to be a wonderful big sister and mommy's little helper. amorris... I'm sure most airlines have some sort of "emergency leave" that is granted due to situations like this. Can't say for certain... but it would only make sense. Regardless... my company took care of me... and even called my wife when I was in the air from EWR to DFW and asked if she needed anything and gave her a number to contact them where they could patch her through to me in the air if needed. I really, really, like my company... that was so awesome that they took the extra steps to do that. Bob

![]() Thanks Chris, and no, not yet. We've always wanted 4... but we may be settling on 3... however... we are much older than we thought we'd be at this stage... so now it's more of a "if it happens again... it happens." No more stress in "Trying too hard" to make it happen. Regardless... I'm EXTREMELY happy with my two healthy one's I have now. ![]() Bob

![]() That's exactly where the name comes from! My wife and I simply love the lakes region of Maine... we have so many fond memories of the lake and camps on Westshore Rangeley. The loons calling in the early morning hours... The crystal clear cool water... Sitting in a hammock with my wife until 2am just watching the stars over the lake... Sitting in the hammock in the winter at 2pm just watching the quiet snow fall on the frozen lake... Awesome snowshoeing in the winter... Eating at the "Porter House" in Eustis... Watching the deer and moose walk right by our camps in the winter... Hiking, boating, fishing, and of course the scenery.... Saddleback, Mooselookmeguntic, etc... Simply wonderful. Our first daughter was born in Maine... and we wanted our second daughter to have a connection to it as well. We had been discussing the name "Rangeley" for quite a while... But... one day two months ago, I had my Maine Atlas & Gazateer out, and I'm looking at Rangeley Lake and the surrounding area... As I look a little closer at the town of Rangeley situated on the northeast part of the lake... I see a feeder pond (Mainers call lakes "Ponds".) that flows into Rangeley Lake on the east part of town... The name of that Pond is called "Haley" Pond. Well... Guess what my first daughter's name is? Haley! That was the clincher right there. It felt "real" and like it was meant to be... After she was born... it just "fit". Bob

I had one week of vacation that I was able to bid into over three weeks off. So... I don't have to be back to work until October 6th. Pretty cool eh! Anyway... I'll be bidding down to a reduced schedule as much as practical to be home with the baby. My wife is taking the full 12 weeks off and when she goes back to work in December then I'll be taking my FMLA of 12 weeks off... Only I'll be doing it like 1 month off, 1 week on, 1 month off, 1 week on, 1 month off... so I don't dequal. The goal is to get it stretched to the summer where we don't need daycare because then my wifes' mom is a school nurse and has the summer off and can take care of her... So we're looking at about a year before we have a "daycare" need for her. That's the goal anyway... But we'll see how it works out. Bob
