Default 4 less teeth

I had my wisdom teeth out this morning. 2 were impacted and 2 were not. So I am laying on my bed doing a lot of nothing and surfing JC. That and eating milkshakes and yogurt. I feel reasonable right now but that may be an effect of the pain killers.

Good luck with that recovery. I've not had it done, but it was recommended that I do. I've never had any complications at all with my wisdom teeth. Still, the doc acted like It would have to happen sooner or later.

yea it was basicly the same deal with me. however one was growing sideways toward the rest of my teeth, so that one really had to go.

Since they were getting that one I had them take them all out so I did not have to deal with it again.

Be warned about an increase of JC posts by me,

I know what you are going through, and it sucks. I had four teeth pulled. Then I had to have an operation to find two of my teeth. One ended up being right under my nose, so they had to drill to get it. They then attached a bracket to in, and tied it to my braces. Then I had another operation in the mouth, but less extreme. I wish you the best of luck.

My third wisdom tooth just poked through not too long ago...so I'll probably be in the same boat as you soon. How long does the recovery usually take?

If they are not impacted, it is really not that big of a deal. I had four out in late January (and I'm in my young 30s...so yeah, I waited).

Nitrous oxide with local anesthetic only. No general. They came out, I went home with gauze in my mouth, got a prescription for vicodin filled, took one immediately, took one that evening...then I think I took a couple ibuprofen the next day and that was it. Laid around and read a couple magazines that day. Was out and about the next day, all day...even went out that night.

Did have to eat soft foods for about a week though. Anything with texture would end up in the 'holes' and that really wasn't comfortable. Great for losing a couple pounds (or 5) which I've kept off, so that was nice!

Best of luck w/your recovery...hope it is as simple as mine!

My wisdom teeth came in when I was in highschool. My dentist said that my wisdom teeth are too far back for a toothbrush to effectively reach,so they could cause cavities and tooth decay of the surrounding teeth.
He strongly suggested that I have my wisdom teeth pulled. I remember my olders sister had her wisdoms pulled she was in pain for a day maybe two. That is a vivid memory and the reason that I didn't heed my dentist advise,I can be a real ***** when it comes to pain. So everytime I brush I just make sure to get my wisdoms really well.

Its the drugs.....
It was a good 24 hours before I had come around to being at least somewhat coherent. Then it hit me. I have gapping holes in my gums, stitches poking the inside of my mouth, yogurt and milkshakes give me the SH**S, cotage chees is nasty. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN I CANT SMOKE??"

ARRGGHHH!!!!!!!!!!

So I pretty much slept for 2 days. Damn it was kinda cool to be 21 and be able to do crap like that. Got up the 2 nd day, went to the Bar. Mixed the Vicadan with a few shooters, and next thing ya know, I was eating Tortilla Chips and bleeding from the mouth.

Moral of this story is that, Getting Wisdom Teeth pulled kinda sucks, but the chronic ear aches, and potential for an absess is worse. Try to take it easy, and follow the docs directions. There is no pain quite like a dry socket, and no amount of Beer and Vicadan will dull that pain. Also those rear molars now, will be very susceptable to decay, so keep a good eye on that. I lost half of one of mine, and the dentist said that it is common.

i feel ya man, but i felt it worse. i felt the pain the whole time after the procedure, he said i didn't need antibiotics, so guess what happened? it got infected and that was probably the most disgusting thing to ever have in your mouth. rotting flesh and all that good stuff.

it smelled like fish, and you know, there's only two things in the world that smell like fish, and only one of them is fish.

i went back a week after and saw another dentist at the same place and she was shocked i wasn't given any.

any time spoons touch my teeth or i hear the touch other peoples teeth i still get the memory of him cutting away at my gums.

I remember I had all 4 out at once. They were all impacted and only used local anesthesia. I was eating a Whopper about 2 hrs later and actually went back to school because I was so bored. No swelling and no pain meds needed, I was very lucky!

I had all 4 taken out in 8th grade and was out from school for a week. I got a dry socket in one of them and they had to pack it with this absolutely disgusting green stuff that leaks and burns down your throat all day long. Definately one of the worst experiences I've had; not as bad as food poisoning or tearing your hamstring, though.

I had a couple of wisdom teeth that came in sideways and pressed against a tooth in front of it. This tooth is decaying and tomorrow it is coming out. I will be spending Saturday and Sunday in pain at a FIRC as well. Talk about a real headache.

My cheeks puffed up and I looked like a chipmunk when I had mine out. Watch out for that!

i had 6 of mine taken out! 2 extras on the top...i made sure my surgeon would put me fully out.. i remember waking up and my mom being greener than i was.. haha

got to eat milkshakes for a few days, skip 2 days of school (the nausea was awful) and be treated like queen round the house which didn't happen often. was kindof a nice break from the norm really but i didn't like the discomfort that much.

luckily, we had disolvable stitches by then, so no dry sockets here!

Ahhh good times. Mine were all impacted. I was in pain for a good two days. Couldn't open my mouth more than a half inch for a week. Face swelled up and looked like Mr. Potato head for week and a half. I remember getting home and asking my mom to fill my pain perscription of whatever it was they prescribed.. She took her sweet time and about 7 hours later she got around to it. By then the pain was as raw as I have ever felt. Thanks Mom. Moral of the story is to fill your pain med perscription ASAP and start taking it long before the initial meds wear off.

I had a few of my teeth pulled years ago. 4 impacted wisdom teeth and 4 bicuspids (too make room for braces). I took the easy road and went for the general anesethic. I was quite lucky and didn't bruise or swell and was back to school in about 2 days.

I found out later it all depends on the DR and the drugs he uses on how much you swell.

The Doc said he put some anti-swelling stuff in me. Had them out Wed. morning and did not start swelling until Thurs. PM. I was off the good stuff and back to work on Friday (and have worked every day since then). People there did not the even noticed swelling at first look. One side is still a little sore, but its barely noticeable.

If ya'll ever need anything to dissuade you from doing crystal meth, google "meth mouth" sometime. Makes getting your wisdom teeth pulled seem like a picnic in the park.

I had mine out just before I started A&P school. I was supposed to be out like a light, but kept on waking up. The last time I had woke up he was in the middle of trying to get the tooth out and I bit down hard(I was delerious and had no clue what was happening)...... Needless to say he had a few choice words, lol. He made sure I was out after that.
