| R2F's American Eagle Training Updates Hey ya'll. Training starts bright and early tomorrow. My intentions - so long as our webmasters don't mind - are to keep you all updated with periodical updates of what we're learning, where I'll be based and what equipment I'll be flying.
So far, I've met the other 12 new hires. Three from CA, three from FL, one from Rhode Island, one from Iowa, one from ND, one from CO.....and three others
All seem like pretty good guys.
I'll do my best to post when I can. Probably only here though. May not have time to contribute much more.
PEACE!!
R2F

| The Ballpark is gone! They're tearing it down to make a giant parking lot.
Stan--any chance you could post the aircraft assignments for your class? I'd be interested to know if there's anyone coming down to San Juan.
Don't work too hard in indoc!

| Heh, since we're starting training on the same day, I was kinda kicking around the idea of a compare and contrast thing between the two of us. Right now, I'm sitting at the Homestead Suites under the final approach for 18R at MEM. Training starts at 8 AM sharp tomorrow, and we've got a decent mix of high and low timers in the class. We've also got a guy from FlyI, an ex-Chi Ex pilot and someone from NWA (furlough maybe, haven't met him yet).

| Indoc is easy, systems are a little tougher, and the sim is probably the most difficult part. My biggest problem was the callouts and profiles, if they give you a POH just take a peek at 'em know and know 'em cold before you step foot in the sim.
Good luck guys! |

| Long story, I'm done posting my entire life on the forum, so everything is kind of under the radar right now.
Stan I'm like 5 miles from you, way closer than I thought you would be. There's a decent bar a few miles from where you're at (around Division and Cooper) that I can get you directions to when you need to unravel from training a bit.

Stan, you know how you get grief about your head being a "melon?" Well, now you're going to be happy, because you're going to be cramming all sorts of stuff into that melon. Gives you an edge on folks, right? |

| Uh Oh, I'm "newer" to the forums and still appreciative enough to dig everyone. That being said, this thread has some killer potential. R2F and Kellwolf, again congrats. Two individuals, two airlines, and one thread. I,m anxious to read and learn from your posts. I hope you guys have stellar weeks. Your minds must be racing.
For what's it worth, from my screen, John H., Bob loblaw, OldTownPilot, and a lot of other active vets are all valuable assets to the forums. Did you rivals meet at a JC event and find out you were all members of rival gangs? Ah, I'm just joshin' ya. I see great potential for this thread and don't want to see it "go that way". Now I'm going to hit up my 80's love songs play list on the Ipod and think about what I've done. |

| Okay. Here's how it broke down. DAY 1
We arrived at class and the following aircraft/bases were available:
3 ATRs in SJU
2 Saabs LAX
2 Saabs DFW
2 ERJs BOS
1 ERJ LGA
3 CRJs DFW
First pick went to the ERJ in BOS. Second to the CRJ in DFW....
Then it was my turn. (Tenney, you readin' this, bro??? ).
I will be flying the CRJ-700 out of DFW. So no Rock for me!!!
The first day was very eventful, if anything. Got to class around 7:45 a.m. After the prerequisite introductions and welcomes, we filled out our paperwork, then received our Flight Manuals (and subsequent revisions) and our Pilot Contract (and subsequent revisions) and spent a good portion of the morning loading those into the binders.
The absolute best part of the day (other than just being there) was when our Indoc instructor handed out the following:
Eaupolets
Crew tags
Deck keys to our respective aircraft; and Wings (two sets).
Now I know my excitement over getting my wings may seem a tad juvinile or hokie to some of you, but as unceremonious as it was, it was a HUGE day for me to FINALLY be given my real-for-shootin' airline wings!!!
It's the small things in life.
We then began going painfully through the Flight Manual....pretty much page by page. After lunch, we took a tour of the facility and that ROCKED! Went down to where they do the water training and fire training...a tour of all the sim bays (most of them anyway) throughout the American Airlines Flight Academy, etc., etc.
At the end of the class, American Eagle's President, Peter Bohler dropped by to welcome us, give us his schpiel, and then take questions.
All in all, a long, but VERY productive day!!! DAY 2:
More Flight Manual review today. That's going to continue through Thursday.
We also received a visit from the Employee Assistance Manager (read, Shrink ) who talked to us about the services they offer. Then, we headed down to the museum to have our class picture taken.
The last part of today was spent being measured for our uniforms. Can't wait to put THAT on for the wifey!!!
Tonight, I'm going to snuggle up with a good book = the Flight Manual. Volume I.
More later.
R2F

BTW, crashmbern, I think I saw you today. We were in line to get measured for our uniforms and two guys walked up....one by your name.
But, then the lady called my name and ya'll were gone.
Drop me a PM if you get a chance.
Stan

Stan | Am I correct in assuming that choice of ac/base was seniority? Age has come in handy here then.... Congrats!, Stan.

| Doh! We need more. I'll take anything, though.
Congrats on the CRJ--you know it's the 2nd fastest airplane AMR flies, after the 777? Hopefully we'll get some movement so you won't have to sit reserve for two years. |
