| Well...I did it. Got back around two this afternoon. Route of flight: KSMX-RZS(VOR)-OXR and back. It was so much fun I still cant believe it! After I departed SMX got some light chop over the VOR and then calm onto OXR. The only thing that was a little bad was the visibility, 7-5 miles the way there. I got kind of nevervous about it at first but then I realized it wasnt that bad. And then on the way back, right about over the VOR I followed a plane all the way back to SMX. It was really neat, he was 4500 I was 6500. LA Center was great at keeping me advised of him. But the greatest part about the whole flight was when I saw my home airport. It was just a great feeling to see something familiar. I also spotted my house on final! Overall it was a terrific experence. P.S. I hope some of you are familiar with the route I flew, that way you know exactly what I am explaining. If not thats ok too. |

| That's awsome! I remember my first solo xcty. Its that nervous ache in your stomach wondering if you are going the right way, doing the right thing, making the right calls. Then all of a sudden you see you home again and feel like a real pilot. Damn that feels good!! |

| Old Skool | Congratulations ... x-country flying was and always has been my favorite part of flying ... you'll always remember that flight. I had to divert due to clouds on my first solo cross-country which took away from the enjoyment ... but my long solo cross-country was by far my favorite flight still to this day. |
