Default Welp.. not a newbie but pokin around again

I've got to say. Flying has been a little low on the priority list lately. Had a new baby... Anyway. I've kinda fallen off the wagon when it comes to flying. Anyone else kinda feeling like it's not worth the effort anymore. I mean, I love flying, but geez, every time I turn around I get more negatives... grrrr.

Congrats on the new bay-bay!

Believe me, I've been there. Heck, I still have up and down days and I've been flying to feed myself for almost 11 years.

I will admit, however, that once I got married a lot of my priorities changed and I couldn't imagine the changes that are going on in a new father's life.

What's your five-year plan?

I know the feeling man. I got my instrument rating, then I took the winter off. Then I fly for like 30 hours getting to about 200 hours and then I didn't fly for about 11 months. Did my BFR, and I won't fly again until June. Sitting at private/inst. with 200 hours until I finish everything down in Florida in June. Hang in there dude, it happens to everyone.

Thanks for the kind words guys. My 5 year plan.... Interesting that you ask Doug. I've been toying with the idea of moving back to Texas from here in Cali. Cheaper cost of living and without the wif working it may prove to be the catalyst I need to get back into the cockpit. It'll also be really nice to be close to family. None out here in CA. I just need to find a good job to tie me over and then we'll see how it goes from there.

It's been about 8 months since I've been flying. I'm probably way rusty and it figures cuz the time before last I had my Biffer (BFR) and was signed offf with flying colors. I've been toying with the idea of just getting a high performance add on

John, It's nice to hear that you've gone through this also. I haven't posted here in a long time but I definitely remember all of you guys and still am extremely grateful to Doug and the rest of you long timers that have helped me understand the industry.

One thing life has taught me thus far, your well laid plan will not survive contact with reality (or mother nature). I had it ALL laid out a couple of months ago. Get my ME, finish my AS with ERAU, and head to MAPD in Jan. (I'm acronym man, watch me type) Then this monster named Charley screwed things up royally. I haven't been in a plane since 8/13 (yeah, that was a Friday, too), US Air is swirlling fast, and I'm forgoing the MAPD route for a CFI route. Finally, things seem to be falling into place. I got a job with another airline, my mom has agreed to co-sign for a loan to finish my commercial and CFI ratings, and I may actually be able to get all that done by the time I'm 30 (next year). Definately a career that has its ups and downs, but this is something I've thought about a lot. I want this bad enough to weather the downs and enjoy the ups. Just stick with it, and eventually things will fall into place.

Hi skeeter. I just wanted to say that I know how you feel. I haven't been in a plane in a long while, so you might as well say that I'm going to be starting from square one all over again. For a while it seemed like every time that I even had a thought about flying come into mind, some event, thing, or emergency would miraculously appear out of nowhere, causing me to once again put things on the back burner . One a positive note however, times like that don't last forever. I made a promise to myself that I will be flying again. (and I am going to do it ). I've recently started studying for the written. I figure that I can at least get that out of the way.
With all the hurricanes that have been rolling through , it's just as well that I haven't scheduled any flight time. Although I must say that we have had a string of nice days here lately, but it would be just 'my' luck.
I hope things work out for you. I hope that you take a little time, breathe, regroup and then go off in the direction that you choose to go. Btw, congrats on the new baby!!

I hear what your saying man. With school and hockey starting up, its tough to get in. I've flown twice maybe in the last month, and everytime I seem to have a lesson it gets cancelled. Just hang in there, it will be bright once you get over the hump! Never give up!
