| I got my first real aviation job this week as a CFI. So far, my career has consisted of a grand total of (drum roll, please) two rental checkouts!! Ok, so today was a morgue at the school, but...we're growing! (or so they say) The school is kind of out of the way, and relatively new, so there's still not much word on the street yet, but hopefully I'll be able to pick some students up gradually. |

| Hey, congrats!! You've gotta star somewhere!! My first day, I just kid of stood around and watched people come and go. The second day, I flew four times. I have people on a waiting list now.... P.S. I don't charge a no-show fee..... |

| Thanks for the well-wishing. The first day, I sat and watched 2 people come and go... second day... one nothing on day 3 and no one today either. I've had a couple of other nibbles, so I might see about something else. I know it's always slow starting out, but jeez! I drive an hour to get in here already. | Seriously. Since I'm on standby status with this school I just got hired by, the only way I can really start soon is if I recruit. I ran into my old roomate from sophomore year who's thinking about getting his private, and I immediately went into "sell" mode. I only got a "maybe" though. | I knew I should have taken marketing classes while I was in the Navy. Seemed useless to me at the time. Who knew? |

[/ QUOTE ] Update: My first day was this past Saturday, and I got there at 8:15 a.m. and sat and watched the other CFI's go fly, come back... go fly again....until 11:00 a.m. when a call came in for a guy wanting a BFR. So... at 2:00 p.m. I gave my first hour of ground and at 3:15 p.m. we were wheels up for my first BFR!! Landed, walked in and the owner of our FBO said "you wanna go fly again?" Took another guy up for an intro flight. Ended my first day with 1.9 dual given. Second day = nadda. It's all good!! |

| What airport do you operate out of, R2F? I took my initial out at Peter O'Knight. Quite an interesting little airport. |

| No kidding! When was that? Who was your instructor? I instruct at TPF and did all of my ratings (except my PPL which was at VDF) at TPF. |

| I didn't actually do the training at TPF. I was doing ATP's program, so the pre-checkride training happened up at CRG, and we flew down for the checkride with Richard Hirsch (guess where we ate). That was back at the beginning of July. That northbound takeoff is kind of disconcerting with all the tanks and towers. Fun, tho! |

He gets a little antsy in the plane though. |

| Really? I didn't really get that kind of impression from my ride with him. I heard that from someone else before I went down for the ride, but he was just as cool in the air as he was on the ground, though I do remember him being all about getting it over with...one maneuver right into the next and very little setup time in between. But he was never cross. I tell ya, I spent a lot of time looking at that ticket when he handed it to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] I almost went up there to check out the scene, but it's just too far to drive every day. Maybe I'll do some x-c work and pay a visit. I'm sooo rusty right now. I've been loathe to pay out of my own pocket for flight time, but with no students, I'm going to have to. |

Not one for chit-chat in the plane either. Of course... I scared the ##### out of the poor guy on a takeoff from a tough & go.... I'll use him for some of my students. His oral exams are pretty straight forward. |
