Lindbergh is right next to Sea World, but IIRC the landing fees are somewhat high....unless you buy fuel, I think.

Montgomery is another option, still close. Brown is too far away next to the border.

Lindbergh is prob best bet.

Weren't you a west coast aviator? Or were you east coast Navy? Could've sworn you were a Moffet P-3 guy?

Flying my Grumman into San Dog and flying the P-3 into North Island are is a big diffence. Looks like MYF is the best bet.

MYF is a good field. Still close enough to mission bay and sea world.

Yeah that is most likely my best bet.

Just be mindful of NKX to the north/northwest.....I guess there's issues every now and again with GA bumping up into their Class D, and vice versa. At least was an emphasis item whenever we'd go into NKX back in the day.

For GA, MYF is the airport you want to use, and absolutely get a San Diego terminal chart beforehand; the SAN Bravo is the the most convoluted I've ever seen. Getting in there is easy enough, tho--just be cognitive of the VFR corridors they've carved into the Bravo; note that coming south along the coastline, you'll need to be either below 1800' or between 3200' and 6800' til you're at Mount Soledad (on V23 about 5nm N of MZB, charted). Gibbs Flying Service has rental cars on the field.

Their airspace is so much fun!..... I like the zig-zag vfr route.

Sounds like your planing on MYF, but if for some reason you choose brown, make sure you don't fly into mexico. Haha. Almost did that one the first time i went in there. Tijuana looks pretty much exactly like Brown, except they have a giant white hangar on their field that likes to catch your eye and make you say "ooooh, airport!"

There is a Mexican restaurant on the field. No one I know would call it "really good".

I may just file IFR to avoid all the gotchas in that airspace since I'm unfamiliar.

Expect an inland routing then, down along I-15. No pretty shoreline view. If you have a GPS and a terminal chart, VFR into the area isn't a problem.

I'll be coming down the valley as it is. So I would have to pop out to the coast otherwise.
