| Is there anybody in the Daytona Beach/Ft. Pierce area that's a Nascar fan, I'm gonna be in the area for the Pepsi 400 and would like to go to Pole day. Maybe we can meet up or fly in, I will be in the Ft. Pierce area that weekend. ![]() |

| Old Skool | I went to the Pepsi 400 last year and had a blast. That was my first experience with Nascar in person, and it is MUCH better than on TV. For one, you don't have to listen to the annoying commentators, and two you get to watch the car YOU want to watch, not just the leaders. Unfortunatley, me "free ticket source" wasn't able to get any this year. ![]() |

You might see if there is a boat service that goes b/w the two, but I doubt if that's gonna be cheap. You could always come to Orlando and fly over, but I think Gulfstream flies that route. That would be neither cheap nor easy, and you would be supporting their PFT butts. I'm with John, swimming is your cheapest bet. You could always get a raft and a soccer ball and hope for the best. |

| I'll be in town, but I won't be going to the race. I can reccomend good places to park on the field, or at least cheaper places. The parking rates go up during race weeks. It also gets REALLY busy the day before and after the day of a race. If you want to fly in you might need to reserve a slot for arrival with FSS. On the day of the race you probably can't fly in because traffic is limited to air carriers. Let me know if you're going to be in town. I'll probably be working at the airport, if you have time you can stop in and say hi. |

Then again it is a "large public gathering" so I'm sure there will be a TFR that goes from the mid-Atlantic to Tampa. Some friends asked if I could fly them in from ORL, and I said I would if I could. Then they say that won't know if they're going until the night before. I told them I'd need at least a week in advance, otherwise I wouldn't be able to get the slot. |

| Old Skool | Believe it or not it is really easy to fly to the Pepsi 400. There are no slot times for this event. There is no reservation system or TFR in effect (yet, anyway.) |

| The NOTAMS aren't out yet, but there will be a TFR or some sort of restriction the day of the race. I'd be willing to wager a 6 pack on that one. If you don't come in the day before the big race, you can get by without reserving a flight slot. ATC will still let you in, but if you are flying in make sure you at the very least have VFR flight following. I've gone to our practice areas on training flights and waited 20-30 minutes for ATC to clear us back into the Charlie. If anyone is going to be up this way and they're staying in the area this first round is on me. I don't plan on doing a whole lot of flying over that weekend. |

| Guess I'll just drive down to Miami and Key West. anyways I'm gonna go watch qualifying in Sonoma next weekend. (Any Nascar fans in the bay area?) Can't wait to see it! I'm actually surprised at how many rednecks live in the bay area, there is always a lot of people there. Then again half of the nascar fans just follow the races with their RV! ![]() |

| For all of you Florida residents, there's going to be a new FBO opening in Daytona. I believe the grand opening will be some time next month. If you want to come up there's going to be free food and my band will be playing. I'll post about it later, but just a heads up if you're thinking about a quick flight to DAB. |

It was purchased on Tuesday of this week. It was Executive Flightline in the past, located on Echo in between 7R/7L. I'm on vacation in AZ and then on to NY for the next 2 weeks, so I don't know much about the details. When I get home I'll find out more and post. |
