Default Vermont

I'm just wondering if anyone ever gets to VT... it seems that the farthest north JCers tend to get is NY or MA... anyone ever make their way to the Green Mountain State (which it finally is, after weeks and weeks of solid overcast and rain)..?

Now that's the spirit! Ever fly up to Rutland? Nice little airport, good people as well.

I can't say I've ever been down to your part of NH.. in a small plane, at least. I have done some flying up in northern NH... now THAT'S desolate, but oh-so-much fun!

You're not missing to much, as towns go. It's more a city (ha! well, compared to the rest of VT) than a town, with all the problems of a city. Ever seen the Fast and the Furious? (I regret to say I have) That is Rutland, at least in spirit.

Hey,
I am a new JCer, and I did most of my flight training in VT up there in Burlington, I live in poultney VT now, which is right near RUT (rut-vegas) but I Flight instruct in Glens Falls New York... theres a little more business here than there...

Welcome! It's great to have another Vermonter here!
I'm sure just about anywhere would have more business than RUT... it's a *little* bit slow!

Naw, I'm not. I'm actually just about to "officially" become a student pilot. I've done some flying with a friend who has a PPL, picked up a bunch of stuff, but naturally, it's not loggable.

I've been holding off starting training because I'm heading off to college in a matter of weeks and it'd be downright silly to start somewhere, knowing that I'd have to leave halfway through. Once I'm there if I have time (I think I will) I'll definitely be starting my private.

As far as instructors at RUT go... I'm pretty sure that they've got one part-time instructor. It's a pretty slow airport in general. Lots of jet traffic in the winter, though.

We used to fly into Newport State two times a month in a King Air when I was seven or eight, mom's boss had a place up there on a lake.

Ah yeah. As Vermont goes, Newport is "out there"- it's a pretty good drive from just about anywhere. Haven't been to the airport though, just flown past it a few times.

I don't see why not! Unfortunately, I leave for college in a little under two weeks now. Any time before then would be great, though. PM me or drop me an email.
