| hey guys, I flew up to Agua Dulce Airpark (L70) today. Its about 10 or 15 miles NNE of Burbank, and they have a BBQ there every saturday and sunday from 11am to 3pm. It is a super nice place, brand new runway and taxiways and a grass strip(not sure if you can use it yet though). The pilot lounge is sweet, there are pool tables, 3 flat-screen TV's and giant couches. Outside they have horseshoes, croquet and its just a real cool place to hang out. I was thinking that it would be a cool place to have a SoCal JC fly-in, BBQ some weekend this summer. ![]() |

| Big Chief's Woman | we could put that in with the major Socal weekend this summer -> alteon tour etc??? whatcha all think? maybe have the alteon tour on a friday and the bbq on the following saturday? or are the two area's not even close together? |

| Old Skool | Alteon's in Long Beach, right? Burbank is on the other side of LA. It's doable, but you have to be willing to drive in LA traffic. Which really isn't that bad. |

| Agua Dulce is about 40 miles north of Long Beach, so it would be maybe an hour drive. Traffic wouldn't be bad on a weekend. Or if someone had a plane, it would be like a half hour flight. I wouldn't mind rent in a plane and flying a few people up there. ![]() |

| Did you say LA traffic not bad?? You must be referring to Louisiana, cause the traffic here in LA (Los Angeles) is a nightmare pretty much all the time. It's almost enough to make a man insane! It let's up a little on the weekends though. ![]() |

| Old Skool | Come on, Jonny. It's a pain in the butt, but it's really not that bad. You adapt and shrug it off after a while. I know you live there so you must be used to it by now. It took me a good hour and a half to get from Santa Monica to Pasadena one day, and I was like, oh, well. The people in the car with me (ooops, I guess I just can't be a true Southern Californian since there was more than one person in my car) were bitching and moaning, and I was like, oh, well. |

| If you do not live in Socal - you do not understand the traffic. 1 hour for 10 miles is not unusual. |

| People around here think I'm crazy because I drive an hour to and from school each day...they can't fathom such a thing! I try to make them understand that where I come from, it's commonplace!!!! |

| Oh it's definitly bad, that's why I have my friend who is a real good driver, and fast driver, drive me everywhere. He can turn a one hour drive in traffic into a 30 minute drive. He knows all these short cuts, lol it's not infrequent for him to be cutting through parking lots and even a drive through. At one point we went through a hangar of sorts. It gets crazy at times. |

| It all depends on the routes you take and whether or not you check the traffic before you go. I live in Huntington Beach and used to commute to East L.A. for school. It wasn't that bad most of the time. Sure there were days where I sat in sloooooow/halted traffic. It was not uncommon to make it to campus in 30-40 minutes. Of course I drive too fast as well, I know I shouldn't. But I will agree that in general comuting in the LA basin, hell all of so cal is horrid. The 405 is evil. I once drove to Santa Barbara and made the mistake of doing the 405. Can you say 5 hours instead of what should have been a 2.5 hour drive? Geez. |

| Old Skool | If you have to commute in that traffic to and from work thats gotta suck. But just to get around L.A. is very doable, because for the most part traffic in LA is very predictable. Every angelino knows when and when not to drive a particular freeway to avoid traffic. -brian |

| [ QUOTE ] It took me a good hour and a half to get from Santa Monica to Pasadena one day, and I was like, oh, well. [/ QUOTE ] An hour's not bad at all! It seems like it takes an hour to get from Pasadena to Altadena when you hit the 210 at the wrong time. When coming down from the north the 210 is ALWAYS fantastic and then you get close to Pasa and it becomes a friggen parking lot. 405 is a parking lot just about all the time except for 10p to 5a. If I never had to drive on it during daylight hours again I'd be very pleased. Traffic aside, sadly, I will not be able to come to SoCal JC this summer, so I'd be up for Agua Dulce sometime before July 15. If anyone is game for that--or SZP, SBA, OXR, CMA--PM me. I'd be happy to try and organize something--I'd be great to meet some more JCers. |

| Old Skool | How about construction on I-94. You know that MDot has decided to work on nearly every single bridge between Jackson and Detroit? Guess what's right between Jackson and Detroit? Ann Arbor. Guess who's in Ann Arbor. That's right, skibum. I hate that road. |

| as soon as he joins that freakin' flying club he'll be flying! unfortuantly only one way cause he's po' gonna subject me to taking the train (which is ok cause it's cheap and sometimes faster- but harms the enviornment less than driving!!) |
