Default Osh Kosh

Just out of curiousity how many people are planning on going to it this summer? is there any way we could maybe form a meet and greet there? it could be cool if we had some space there to hold a jetcareers dinner etc. Any thoughts?

Athena: I'll be there, I'm going up with a bunch of friends in a bunch of planes and we're all camping with the planes. We are leaving Mon July 26 (the day before it starts) and will be there through either Thurs July 29 or Fri July 30. Can't wait - and would be more than interested in meeting up w/other JC.com'ers.

I've been there once, but don't really care to do it again. At least not any time soon. Don't get me wrong, it was an absolute blast, but I don't like crowds, and I don't like being able to count the rivets in the horizontal stab. of the plane I'm supposed to follow.

Hey, I'll be the first to admit that I'm a wuss when it comes to sharing a gigantic traffic pattern with a bunch of weekend warriors...

...You know the ones who come out on really nice days at uncontrolled fields and cut you off in the pattern, block you on the radio with long useless radio calls, and taxi across the active as you're flaring?

Oshkosh is a mecca for those guys!

Oh Lord, do I?!?! My entire flying career (all 23 months of it) has been at uncontrolled fields. I feel your pain.

Still think it'd be good to go to Oshkosh. Hey - you can ride with me and just get good and liquored up..... in the back... far, far away from the controls.

(Kidding!)

When is Oshkosh??? I'd definately like to go since I haven't been before and i've heard it's the best besides sun-n-fun in the country...

plus, i think it'd be a good marketing effort for the JC team/crew to host a networking seminar or something... I'll have to check out their info on exhibitors etc.

Maybe, if doug and I can't make it, one or more of you might like to market JC for us??? just a thought...

Oshkosh is the bigger, better, older brother to sun-n-fun.
Way cool. Way huge. Just Way.

Oshkosh ROCKS!

My dad is an exhibitor every year, so he gets us exhibitor passes (free soda, doughnuts & coffee and better/less used porta-potties). We weren't able to go last year (I had a baby two weeks before OSH, so I wasn't quite up to all the walking!) but we're hoping to make it this year.

He's one of the avaition maintenance instructors at Blackhawk Technical College (Janesville, WI). He and the other instructor take turns manning a booth with info about the AMT program.
He refuses to work the weekend though, too many people. We always go during the week.

Just wondering... how many of you actually do go to the airshows, particularily oshkosh?

If you do go, do you buy the convention program that they have and/or hit the exhibitor tents?

Reason I ask is because Doug and I are thinking of either a) advertising in the convention program or b) seeing if we can get a booth to hand out JC info/talk to future pilot wannabe's...we've had a few people offer to help man the booth with/for us (depending on if we can get there), if we get one - something like that, may be feasible and fun to do!

Neither of us have ever been to the oshkosh show, so we really don't know what it's like or what's expected...so any input would be great!!

Lemme know your thoughts...

Dude, I LIVE for exhibitor tents. I like walking around, checking out the cool new toys that I can't afford, and loading up on free stuff. Last year I pretty much skipped the air show part of Sun N Fun and stayed in the tents. Literally ran into my flight instructor in a throng of people, too.

I love the Fly Market. There's a lot of junk there, but I have found some of the best aviation books there too! Old books like a guide to celestial navigation, and how the old radio ranges worked. Neat stuff!

We're there every year, I think a jetcareers booth would be great! I'll volunteer to work a couple shifts!

I've not been to Oshkosh (till this year!) but I do go to airshows. I spend tons of time in the exhibitor tents!
