Default Chicago

Some of us Chicago-bound JC members were talking about a Chicago get together. Maybe some dinner downtown, a night out in the city? (A night out meaning over AND under 21 members could attend!) How many Chicagoans do we have here?

I'm not a Chicagoan, but if there's room for non-Chicago people, I'll be there!

Me and skibum are close, and we've been looking for an excuse to come out to Chicago anyways so we would probably be down.

Thanks for putting this up, I was thinking about getting around to it. I could probably even get out of training for a couple of days to make the trip all the way to Chicago I think it would be great to finally put a face with the people I've been chatting with. I guess since you are the mature one you can organize it and I'll just tag along.

Thanks for putting this up matt, with all the other meets & greets across the country I was thinking of posting one for Chicago. Hopefully we will be able to round up a pretty descent sized group.

I'm thinking that we should try to do something in the spring. I'm thinking Cubs game and then dinner somewhere. Or if they're playing at night, maybe catching the dolphins at the Shedd and then to see the Cubbies -- who may be featuring Gregg Maddux?

It's too bad you couldn't make New Year's. It was me and about 20 women. Before you say "WOO HOO!" I was with my wife and friends. Yes, I had a great time, but sometimes you just need some "Guy Time."

If you guys arrange something around a Cubs game, I can get a spot for a BBQ before the game. It's just 1/2 a block north of Wrigley on Sheffield. Just remember, it's COLD there in April. I went to a game last year in April and froze!

Cubs game sounds like a great idea....I love the cubs! I actually went to one of their play-off games and had bleacher seats...it was so much fun. As long as it is nice out I'm all for the Cubs.

I was thinking Cubs vs. White Sox would be a good time to go! The first time they play is in March (COLD), and the next time is in July over the July 4th weekend. Cubs vs. Sox is PURE Chicago baseball at it's finest. If you want to see some good-natured (and bad-natured) rubbin between fans, this is a game to see. Now I'm not sure what everyone thinks of this, but want to do a July 3rd Cubs game during the day, then a barbeque at night? Or if not a barbeque, head to Navy Pier and the Beer Garden/Festivities for a while, then check out the Chicago fireworks at Navy Pier on the 3rd?

It's snowing outside and I'm getting depressed thinking about Chicago summer... I can't wait.

Dude, I got it. Do the Cubs/Sox game. Then do the taste. Then do the fireworks.

What more could you ask for?

I'm not sure when the Taste is. We can do Cubs/Cards, Taste, and Fireworks (as long as it's a Sat night... they have fireworks every Wed and Sat all summer). I'll look into it.

The Taste is June 25th-July 4th. There is some Cubs vs Sox games in late June, but they are at Comiskey (ahem, US Cellular field). Not as fun as Wrigley! Cards come in during late May, around the 22nd.

RAPID POST SUCCESSION!

Anyways, what about weekdays? Cubs play the Cards during the week in June. I'm thinking a Wednesday... like the 9th... Cubs vs Cards... fireworks at Navy Pier... my birfday... :P

I've been meaning to go to Chicago (never been), and this would be the perfect excuse. 4th of July weekend would be bad, though. Near impossible to non-rev up there, but that's just me.

I'm thinking I might take the Seneca up there for my Spring Break in April. I have to check the dates for that and Cubs tix. (Being from the N. side I'm not about to hop the Red Line for 45 min to see the Sox.) If anyone is up for a mid-April Chicago trip, let me know.

We can have smaller get togethers in the spring, and maybe a bigger one with more plans in the summer!
