Default Germany for New Years

I'm going to be in Germany visiting family and stuff for Christmas, along with my old high school (tear, sniff)

So...

Anybody want to meet up at the Schloßberg in Freiburg for New Year's Eve? They usually have a nice fireworks display.

Or if anyone wants to do some spotting at Frankfurt Airport, we could do that too.

I will actually be in Grenoble, France for New Years, visiting some friends. Anyone up for a Jetcareers Europe meeting?

Would LOVE to, but #1 I have to work (damn airline), and #2 I'm still working on learning German.....

I want to go to Germany soon. I'm a big WWII history buff, and there are a LOT of places I want to see.

ok, your number 1 excuse makes sense.. gotta work gotta work... but the absolute best way to learn german is to just immerse yourself into it and try as you go along... so your 2nd excuse doesn't fly! hahaha

we found out that if we tried - people would help us out... if we didn't try.. they rolled their eyes a lot....

In some areas - there's a lot of WWII history.. and in other areas there isn't any because most of the people are ashamed and don't want to think about what happened back then....

[/ QUOTE ] I too will be visiting family in Germany during new years. On the 27th I'm flying directly from PHX to Frankfurt via Lufthansa A340! Then it's a train ride to Stuttgart from Frankfurt. On the 8th of Jan I'll be doing the same thing, just backwards! So if you're going to be at the Frankfurt airport on the 28th or 8th we could have the first JC Europe Gathering!

ach Scheiße... ich fliege eigentlich nach München erst, steige um, dann weiter nach Hannover.

We could meet on the 8th <I think> I'd have to convince my friend Martin to come with me, but it could be arranged.

Mein Deutsch ist sehr Scheisslich! Ich glaube wir genug zeit nicht haben am Frankfurt, aber danke für das angebot!

Too bad we cant meet up sometime during our visits. We're usually busy everyday visiting people that I am usually vaguly familiar with. Kinda makes it a hastle sometimes, but for the most part it's always a lot of fun! This will be my first New Year's out of the states!

Ok that was the best screwed-up Badisch dialect I could do there....
