| Re: JetCareers Beach Party I agree on florida too.
Its more within reach for those of us who are on the east
coast. Las Vegas and SLC are kinda out of our reach most of the time. Especially with school/work schedules. We need a few more east coast events. So far they seem to be mostly out west. |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party I went to Mustang Island in near Port Aransas this summer, that's about 10 miles north of Corpus Christi I believe, and it is a wonderful place, HOWEVER, I do believe florida is sounding good for this summer... i dont think flying down would be especially feasible in this area of the country in the summer....
Sun n Fun would be awesome, I did that once when i was 8. It's HOT though! |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party Believe it or not Florida is not as bad as you think in the summer. Lines are shorter and everything is (overly) air conditioned. You got a bunch of SNOWBIRDS down here who keep turning the air conditioning down to 66! I have to wear a jacket to church sometimes, in August!
Some of us moved here because WE DON'T LIKE BEING COLD!!! |

Hot as in temperature, or hot as in exciting? |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party If we're talking about theme parks and lines, JT, I have to disagree about lines being shorter in the summer. Lines are longer b/c most of the tourist come from other states and actually ENJOY the heat (masochists), and that is the only time their kids are out of school. SWA is SLAMMED hard from about late April until early Sept. Best time in my opinion to visit Florida is probably mid-late Sept (maybe into early Oct) or Feb. Temperatures are not too bad, and the crowds are fairly low. If you're not doing the theme parks, then pretty much anytime is good. After working at Disney, Universal and Sea World, you can't get me in one of them during the summer.
As far as Sun N Fun, it's more humid than hot (but then again it's like in the 80s in Jan right now. grrrrr), but bring sunblock. The sun is killer. Although it was cool to watch the airshow sitting under the wing of a Spitfire. |

And that's why I say let's go west!
Did you hear the one that Dan Quayle did when he was speaking in California? He said something along the lines of it's great to be in California, it's practically home to me. I grew up in Arizona. |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party yeah but you don't get that many 115 degree days... anything above 105 is friggin hot.. but up to 105 and dry and it's pretty darn feeling good.... evaporates right off ya whereas the florida humidity sticks so much that i constantly have to put my hair up or release it to the wild of frizz and curl....THAT i just can't stand!!!!
July, August & September are the worst months in florida (even tho the tstorms are fun to watch) - but if you hold it then, count me out!
My sister lives in dunedin which is fairly close to clearwater (TPA airport) - so if you decided to go towards there, she might be able to help with names of hotels and/or places to stay near the beach... |

FL in the summertime is miserable!
[/ QUOTE ]
And summer down here in FL is from April to October.
It's not just "hot" - it's MISERABLY hot AND humid (as Doug pointed out). It's the kind of heat where you walk outside and IMMEDIATELY begin to sweat.
Tony - it's like D.C. in July. That kind of miserable. |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party I went to boot camp in Orlando in July and August. It was so funny watching so many northern boys pass out from the heat and dehydration. I had been working outside before I joined so I was used to it.
I really don't think it was that bad though. I miss the afternoon thunderstorms everyday. |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party I went out to Vegas for a softball tournament in August a couple of years ago. We went from 97 and oppresive humidity to 113 and dry. Give me Vegas ANY day! Working outside in Florida sucks, and I've been lucky enough to deal with it one way or another for the past 6 years. I managed to scheme a month inside while at Space Mt, so that wasn't so bad.
Anyway, we had practice at like 2 PM in Vegas, and none of us were even sweating. Not sure if the dry heat didn't feel as bad as the humid or the sweat was evaporating before it hit the skin..... |

Oh Lord, do I agree with you there!!!
I did landscaping back in my college days between semesters and good GOD was it hot!! And that was back when I was in shape.
Now, I wait for 6 p.m. to roll around before I'll even consider cranking the ol' lawnmower up. |

| Re: JetCareers Beach Party If florida is to be the place, then i think we should hit it early like in May or June.... but then the question of which coast to go to comes to mind.... altantic water is extremely cold... gulf water is wave boring...
and i can't remember when... but when do the jellyfish and red tide normally show up? i think that's later in the year isn't it?
if we do tpa/st pete/clearwater beach, i know the area pretty well and have family in the area - so that's fine for me... and my sis could probably help with getting a good location for everyone (maybe)...
I've never been to the NC beaches and hear they are nice... but going even further up the coast would be nice too...i think (?)... |
